    I like it Tom!

"The dove descending breaks the air
    With flame of incandescent terror
    Of which the tongues declare
The one discharge from sin and error.
The only hope, or else despair
Lies in the choice of pyre or pyre—
To be redeemed from fire by fire."

    -- T S Eliot, Little Gidding

Little Gidding was started after The Dry Salvages but was delayed because of Eliot's declining health and his dissatisfaction with early drafts of the poem. Eliot was unable to finish the poem until September 1942.[24] Like the three previous poems of the Four Quartets, the central theme is time and humanity's place within it. Each generation is seemingly united and the poem describes a unification within Western civilisation. When discussing World War II, the poem states that humanity is given a choice between the bombing of London or the Holy Spirit. God's love allows humankind to redeem itself and escape the living hell through purgation by fire; he drew the affirmative coda "All shall be well" from medieval mystic Julian of Norwich. The end of the poem describes how Eliot has attempted to help the world as a poet, and he parallels his work in language with working on the soul or working on society.[25] Wikipedia

            Fire caught my spine.
            Asked my father, "Dad,
            How is your back, what's
            Your Day like?" "Oh son
It's like fire." I put away
            Telling him it's like everyone
            I listened. Telling him this,
            "Dad, I've thought a long
            Time, and I've thought
How to tell you this. I love
            You dad." He him's haws
            Changes, "Dad, I'm not
            Interested in money."
            Almost miss, then we
            Talk about his day, comfort.

            Two weeks later, my loved
One, our Pearl, I Sold everything
            For her, bought her Pearls
            Glass adorning Her window,
"I'm in this for the Long haul.
            That's what men On trains
            Pulling out from station.
            Longest trip." Our age, she
Is 67. me 70. I'm there to the end,
Till death do us start. Only
Three vows in my life, one
            To The Dove, one to
The Precepts, The one to her,
            Lives together death an end
            Loyalty biggest, how could
            Renonce? How could renounce?
I would rather cut off my arm
            Sitting nine years in caves?
Are stories real? Grains of truth
To save me our lives, all sentient
            Beings. Jesus, Bodhidharma,
            Loving Buddhas, alone, on sundials
            Measured time of silence.

              As spring flowers bloom
              Mockingbirds sing at sunrise
              Fragrant dew settles

                The world is delicious,
                Sun bringing robins

                With day from night
                Farmers tend fields
                To light at four a.m.

                Children, I remember
                Laurel could drink no
                Cows' Milk from infancy,

                Farms where goat milk
                Protein nourished child.
                Our daughter heard doves

                we called her Laurel,
                Her Laurel Ann, name mom,
                Gave like music she

                She played In parks across
                From our home, while daddy
                Taught at local college

                Stores for Beautiful
                Spring in late May
                Corn and soy beans

                Grew for Tokyo curds,
                she could not drink milk
                Thousands of miles

                Around the earth, away
                From south Dakota farms
                In prairie lands upon family,

                Farms where Robins fly,
                for years old May mornings

                Upon dew covered grass
                Turning green in May,
                In goat pastures, cows
                Left easy and alive.

                    Near death bringing
                    Life next to blood

                          Dream of poetry, solitary

                          Speech Becomes seeds of hope,
                          Red of single ancient flavored,
Sun at 3:00 p.m. of stoneless cut.

                          Solitary twelve great white rocks
                          Transformed into me, watered
                          Love run away, don't run!

                          Words shimmer in afternoons,

Truthfully, I weep for father's voice
Once again, I don't leave; I comfort him.

                          Dad, don't go!
