Buddha Heaven

While they rest on earth,
Dream like blossoms
Last blooms of Summer.
Time for Fall of Life
Another day she witnessed
As they flew partners of insight,
As Dogen wrote geese to zenith
Flock of honesty our kindred,
Eating grain, seeds, breathe of air,
Water so clean. Time, January 10th,
2016, memory of Jukai,
As father left his heritage,
Wisdom mirage, this birthright,
Claimed at year's greatest Ango,
Contemplation, essence,
Washed with rain, tears
Clean recovered air,
Green growing earth,
Sky blue, brown growth.
Brightest future moral worth,
Memory of Buddha robes
Plainly adorned, alms bowls,
Our rakusu, thus sun, this light
Evening, noon, morning
Forth symmetry solid
Future sight, chlorophyl
Planting, universal stars
Their loving kindness,
Revie revealed indivisible
Side by side their fates
Intertwined in serenity
Child come true, mortality,
Their universal.

More hope I beginning of fall, white
Scintillates in future waking winter
Hands no longer follow ease, tinker
Behind hammering pots of poems
Delight word smith be disappear.
Stopping by woodcutters hut
Made of grass; maybe lives.

Awaken

We celebrate new cold return of Autumn
This white breath is real, our trees yellow
Orange, hint of green these poems dear
Above our morning chant out, sing Oh bard


Oh Buddha west, morning sphere, raising
Into smoke of South Dakota, in these
States, brought forth in Heart Sutra, clear
Oneness sit zazen, Shikantaza bringer Ubasoku

Singer in background quiet refrain, backward
Forward chant, renunciation we miss Verse
Of Atonement, Gatte, Gatte, Paragatte. Awaken.

Parting clouds, ringer sit
With others thought late
Though latter. Mind blank
Flowing like river in Sioux
Falls, Big Sioux my Shikantaza,
Rest all pain into pool of light
Eddy, bright in farm runoff.

Into anger, into face,
Wounded leg, let us
Come, let me freeze
Blood blocks of ice
Reverence realize
Job, child of wisdom,
den of hope, death
Come be gone
Sediment sucked,
Despair of chemistry,
Dashed rocks, ice
Wrapped sting,
Of Fire, nephrology,
Protein found
Cancer, will biopsy
Ultimate fear,
Dashed against
Ulcered ingredient,
Face survive,
Buddha constrained
Feet of Buddha
Man like me,
Buddha golden
Statue with pain?
Joy, no joy, death, no
No death, moon
No moon, Cloud on cloud,
Buddha, Ananda,
Shariputra, I ask
Emptiness, no birth
No one, Softly silence
Emptiness gone
Shante, Shante, Shante.
Old men pass away.
Free like Buddha
Like tree, like leaf,
Like Me, like immortality.

I sit first time this morning
Because I wear rakusu

I smile like autumn haze.

The editor I read was wrong Yasunari Kawabata, Nobel Prize 1968, is not the only Japanese writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature but two others. The list was confusing because one of these men became a British Citizen. I missed a third writer Kenzaburo Oe, books A Personal Matter, The Silent City, more, contemporary novelist, I have only read Kawabata Snow Country, and this I found emotionally and artistically moving. Kokuu correct me if I am wrong and I will check for the British Citizen. I believe Kazuo Ishiguro, and was Knighted Sir Kazuo Ishiguro. His notable works include fiction. Britain claims him, and what I see are books written in English. His wife appears British. Notably start with His book, Never Let Me Go. Japan Nobel Prize Winners are predominately fiction.

Hi Tai Shi

Yes, Kazuo Ishiguro was knighted in 2018. Although he was born in Nagasaki, Japan, he moved to the UK with his parents when he was five so considers himself English.

In the same year as he was knighted, he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, 2nd Class, Gold and Silver Star by the Japanese government.
