I just want to confirm that the times for the weekly (90 minute) and monthly (4 hour) Zazenkai have NOT changed from what they have been the last many many weeks ...
(sorry, I deleted a few posts on the subject that might have been very confusing to people)

We have a LIVE, WEEKLY90 minutegroup sittingEACH SATURDAY (with a longer 4-hour retreat on the first Saturday of each month) ... though actually Friday night in some times zones ... led by Jundo ...
The weekly 90-minute "Live from Treeleaf" Zazenkai commences from 9am Japan time Saturday morning (that is New York 7pm, Los Angeles 4pm (Friday night), London midnight and Paris 1am (early Saturday morning)) ... and is 90 minutes long.
The monthly 4-hour ZAZENKAI is held on the first Friday Night/Saturday of the month from Saturday morning 8am Japan time (that is New York 6pm to 10pm, Los Angeles 3pm to 7pm (Friday night), London 11pm to 3am and Paris midnight to 4am (early Saturday morning)) ... and is 4 hours long.
You can find the comparative time in Japan for your specific location here (it is generally Saturday morning in the United States, afternoon in Europe, evening or late night in Asia) Times will vary for daylight savings and other circumstances:
However, if it is not possible for you to join 'live' in your location at the appointed times, FEAR NOT, as the entire sitting will be recorded in 'REAL TIME' and available for full participation 'ON DEMAND' at any time after that, no different from the 'live' sitting. (the links will be posted each week ... ).
I have even thought at times of making sitting the Zazenkai ... either the recorded-live or live-recorded sitting ... a requirement for participating in this Sangha, which, after all, is about such sitting. Shall we?

Amen brother Jundo! -- count me in
Thanks for poking me, ron, and thanks for thinking of me, kvon -- yes, the zen hall schedule is looking mighty nice, and that includes the "special" weekly sit with brother jundo -- like my daily jog, i find that making commitments to myself, or to others, is where its at -- so i will once again jump on the zen hall train -- having said that, this is the half of the year when i'm slightly technically-limited -- no wifi in my zendo/van, and living in a 24ft trailer with my wife(i'm not complaining -- my circumstances here are very close to a constant retreat in the sonoran desert) -- so i may not have a live signal, but i'll sign up in the hall, and i'll be at the zazenkai
Hello Roky,
Good to here from you!
I am trying sitting this Zazenkai while in Zen Hall on split screen. Just seeing how that works for sight and sound.

I'll be sitting with the recorded version, Roky, so, we'll be sitting "together" again!

I'm still just starting to learn. I'm not a teacher. Please don't take anything I say too seriously. I already take myself too seriously!
Nice to see you in the hall, Roky. Your presence has been missed.

We could talk, if you like; sometime in the Meeting Hall.
I think that works pretty well, sitting Zazenkai/Zen Hall. It might be interesting to figure out how to (optimize?) the features and smooth out some bumps. If for no other reason, to add a new dimension for those sitting the recorded version and/or those who might like to participate live with others.
I don't know for sure, but the only technical issue should be "sound". For instance, we are used to having our speakers and microphones turned off in Zen Hall when sitting. I had my mic turned on tonight but didn't hear myself through my speakers. I am wondering if there is a way to hear Jundo through ustream and each other in Zen Hall at the same time. I think there are some things we could try, at least.
Anyone else sitting here were interested in joining the discussion?
What do you think?

I'd love to join the discussion about this and it sounds like a great idea, but my computer just can't handle running ustream and either of the Halls at the same time! I guess my participation will have to wait until I get a faster computer or I get more bandwidth.

hi don/engyo -- as it turned out, i wound up doing both -- was able to move the external wifi cable to the bedroom temporarily -- i was surprized it came in mostly ok, as there are about 60 rvs using one wifi source, so the bandwidth is way down, but ustream only disconnected once -- oovoo was more problematic, and initially i was hearing an echo of jundo -- was this some one on oovoo with their mic and speaker on?
what i'd really like would be a way to just have the sound of ustream, with oovoo, to reduce the bandwidth required -- not that its perfect, but most of us won't be able to pull in both videos
a few years ago, we usually had both ustream and the hall on simultaneously, including jundo --- there were even a few times when ustream was having problems and the hall was the only place jundo was on
I have enough connection speed to run both, I will see about giving that a try next week. (Engyo: if I understand you mean to meet in zen hall, while live during Zazenkai?)
I am wanting to jump back in the sitting hall again too. It has been a long while since I have gone, both with my trip and just kinda going through a strange anti-social period
I think it time to get back in, it was usefull for me to connect with others live.
See you round soon.
Gassho.
must say i'm very impressed with oovoo today -- just finished my sit, with a very bad connection here, very slow, and yet, at the conclusion i was still on oovoo -- not sure if it would have made a difference were others also on with me, as i assume more video screens would mean more bandwidth
i expect to be in around the same time each day, and of course, will welcome any company

Hogo:
A few of us sat in Zen Hall, following Jundo live in this most recent Zazenkai on (our) Friday night.
Given my space constraints, I sat in "dragon" asana (or seiza - no bench), for ceremony. Prostrations can be done easily from this position in half the space. For zazen I sit seiza with a bench (well, really it is a table-top bookshelf turned upside down). For kinhin I guess I will stand.
I left my microphone on in Zen Hall this time, but I don't think anyone heard my chanting (I didn't, through the speakers I mean). Of course, maybe that was a good thing.
I would like to find someone to give this a try with me to find some way to work out the sound issues in order to chant together with Jundo. We could use a recorded version for a trial.
There are still some questions at this point:
1. How do we introduce two separate sound sources to our computer's speakers (ie. Jundo as well as us)?
2. Are there feedback and delay issues?
The trial(s) could be done in the Meeting Hall so as not to disturb others coming to Zen Hall for zazen.
Roky:
There are a few different resources on the net to convert youtube videos to sound files. If you type in that search I'm sure you will find something there is suitable. It could be another option. I would try it with you.
