    The Outer Rim

Just my love and I see
    As greenery, as we are,
    We may be of reverie
Here is my memory of seas
    Flowing deeply, Great Dogen.
I am flesh, oh we part days
Of old, of heart giving more

To all who look into night,
    To birds who see
    With bright being
    Magnificently given
    Life beyond who track
    Optical sky,
    Oath decries
    Their current deep
    Fleet from food

    Majesty of poverty
    Of water, of sand,
    Who can be
    Washed in pools?
    Anemia, more
    Opening Conversions,
    Dalliance to wonder,

    To sound roar
    Off open water,
    Wisdom earned.
    Every door, open
    Water, thin ice caps
    Supplier of crowns
    Of desire, never touching

    Those fleeing Greed
    Avarice, stolen life
    Of wonder into Precepts,
    Accidental hard shore
    Who gives life, never
    Takes? Forest burns,

    From death, there will be
    Children, more horrified,
    Suppliers of beauty,
    Truth beauty natural
    As Japanese round earth
    How trees grow,
    To see, another earth.

    Touch, looking up
    At morning star, at fording
Pacific trench of Asia, of North
    America, Africa, European
    Channel across England, France
    Russia, Black Sea, War
    Reminder, children lost

    Little ones who we lovingly
    Save from peace, language
    Reaching those reluctantly
    From radio telescopes

    Big Bang Theorems,
    Perceived Homilies,
    Recite love,
    Buddhist Nuns flee,
    Soto Chant sounded
    Like Star Voyager
    Outer Rim escaped
    Humanity gone to

    Outer space our
    First traveler interstellar
    Creation of gravity
    We realize far-flung
    Majesty of nothing.

      The greatest pains
Come to those who least fear them,
      And none are more fearless
      Than those who know not

      To Know is to know
      To feel is to feel
      Perhaps it is best
Just to forget the whole deal

Hello Lavender, your doggerel winds deep into the state of the tower leaning to the left. Come write again, and this time try an image of lake or grass. We hope to hear from you again.

The Moon rest on the tip of his finger,
Like morning dew on earthen blades.
“Where does dew end and grass begin?”
          I ponder on the lakeside.

          But as I sit
And look into the moonlit waters,
All I see is the moon
          My face just beneath.

(Earthen blades? Gag me with a spoon.)

            The stray gnaws on rot,
            And seldom tells the difference.
            Between mutton and slop
            There is little preference.

            A light wisp of apple,
            A strong scent of meat
            The stray finds himself
At the end of his street

            Into the window he leaps
            But none within shriek
            They treat this strange beast
            With a lovely roast feast

              In Another Wisdom

This year corn and beans were not dead
              This year rain for the first July in years, Commodities;
Soared; I am thirty-six years sober 10 days, fruited

Plains since five years ago on July 4th, then corn didn't
Sprout; beans lay in moments of weak economy.
Today it is July 12th. We drove to shop for dinner,

              For my breakfast. Much said of our day's end;
When I find myself joyous; inflation stays in grocery
Store, here picking out our daily bread, and milk,

Last month, just days ago--ten dollars less.
              Folks seventy-one, sixty-eight, another
Price hike means we see income deflate,

Cannot stretch dollars for my health; don't rise
To hate. Three years, money not president
Companies gouge less of public pocket books.

              Today, relentlessly reaping profit from families;
              Seventy decades senior's fixed income,
They buy less and less; money stretched.

Buddha Loving Kindness; gift of pause, we slept
To rise in morning song, despite groceries warehoused
In another wisdom of strange lands, freedom rings,

Mothers clutch children close; Christ answers,
To legislate less death; it's not the Christ's fault,
Or Buddha quietly in twenty-first century which

Simulates a world on the brink of another war.
My friend says she relates to Japanese nationalist.
He lived in the edge of Nagasaki, seventy-eight

Years ago, couples, families, worldly symptoms
Slowly sit in Shikantaza; priest says we might sit again.
Follow Buddha mitre, one more song of my friend's relief.

                    End of Omaha

This morning is mortal. Father work to stay out of "a home" again.
Today’s life in balance yes you can relax
Talk to me again old friend, find him in your dreams.
Because if it becomes hard, Buddies cannot say amen
Morning, cease to grieve and mend Your ways
We cannot stay in house alone our own life to mend each day
Or stay alone. Cancer blight, maybe should be able to live, even to see!
Be at peace to see one more friend. One more time.
I cannot fathom you all alone. I cannot seek love only one way, reach out to your
Sister Your Brother. Likewise, I cannot lighten the tyranny of age,
You in Earling, me in home nearby Hartford, decide where to sit today.
You aren’t alone. You’re one more Zoom away, one more call, we stay in touch.
I am there to be, even now, don’t want to see you alone.
Suggestions, can remember we sat back to back, inadequate, reasoning in Omaha.
We cannot see one More time, do still have it all. Buddha life and cause?
Sure, if we intended our own heart or life or demise, my dearest effect is friendship!
I care for time, our time, and time again, and again.

When I was 26 I got Lyme disease. During my treatment for it I spent 54 Days very weak, and barely able to do anything.
A river runs along the North border of my property, and one of the few things I managed to do during this time was sit on the bank with my Cat. One day while doing this, I witnessed this...

                          -Calm Acceptance
I saw a Heron pluck a fish from the water.
It was so peacefully still. No splash, No sound, barely even a ripple. The fish didn't even struggle, just rode off in the herons grasp... It made me think that fish traded It's fate, for it's only chance to fly.

Going home to where you've always been.

Just a children's game of hide and seek.
No rules, no goals, just thus.

                              THE DHARMA IS MY ROCK

THE DHARMA IS MY ROCK -- A poem composed by Sensei Koyo Kubose, date unknown:

                              Many things are happening
                              In my life right now.
                              Underlying it all
                              The Dharma is my rock.

                              Beyond sorrow and joy
                              The Dharma is whispering
                              Everything is Okay,
Even when things are not going Okay.

                              Eyes full of tears
                              Heart heavy with pain,
                              Stone therapy helps me see
                              The suchness of all things.

                              Being embraced by the Dharma
I will live a life of Oneness
                              Where the universal and infinite
                              Touch the particular and finite.

                              Yes, I will struggle;
Yes, things may not turn out
Exactly the way I would like.

Yet, I will keep going with a smile
                              Because I know
                              The Dharma is my rock.

                                Mistake on under Tree

                                The usual joy escapes me
I am false, I am not free
                                Mistakes abound, mistakes
                                Do not glorify Gautama
                                Buddha, or Jesus Christ,
                                All is sorrow, mistakes
                                Do not glorify eternal "yes."
                                I have committed eternal "no."

                                Rapture of positive escapes me.
Nothing in my life lies obvious
                                Except that I mistakenly
Said somewhere he not is eternal,
She is eternal, "no." What could
Sketch, draw, or color into what

I have done? Where am I
                                In error? Thorough beginnings
                                Mouth, body, and mind?
In pain of sorrow, in speech,
                                Thought, or deed, now
I atone for them all! I
Grieve up, I feel all pain,

Am in all Error! Some place
                                Some time, Some way,
                                I have committed previous
                                Error of indecision, or dream
Wise act or never, I atone for
                                Speech thought or deed,
No where, no sand or earth
                                Water divides.

                                Atonement is all in perception
                                All in live action whether
                                In ignorance or knowledge
                                No written record can stand
In clay tablet, song, or written
Paper language. All is bleak, all
                                Woe, give over to Buddha,
                                Yes, too Christ. To sin,
                                Error,

I join under Bodhi Tree, Evening Star,
                                Morning earth and planet, Earth
                                In heaves figuratively,
                                Plainly, or obviously all
                                Is an attempt at forgiveness,
                                Ten thousand Buddhas
In, under, on Tree, under Wise

                                Buddha I withhold nothing, strong
                                Is my submission, my Desire,
No Greed is the average, give
                                Up possessiveness, all grasping.
                                Wonder individuality, note-
                                Worthy, wonder of creation
                                Offer atonement, offer sorrow.

                                Find again, of Jesús or
                                That above Wise wisdom, Buddha,
Christ. That which is God, not God
Which has no place in eternity,
This is the wonder of creation,
                                That not created, not formed?
That which is Created and Formed.
