I haven’t read through this entire thread so perhaps someone has already mentioned this but has anyone else noticed that the text box where we type our messages (like this one) is behaving oddly? I generally use Safari on my iPad to type here and I’ve noticed that Safari doesn’t seem to be as accurate with spell correction. It also seems to not recognize a new line (return key) as an opportunity to capitalize the next word typed.

Both are more annoying than actual bugs. For the record I haven’t noticed Safari acting strangely with any other forum. Just Treeleaf since the upgrade.

Can't leave you without a reply. I am not using an iOS device for editing, so I can't say anything substantial, but I have heard from others that the editor is behaving sub optimal, so to say.
I don't know what to do about it yet. I have it on my list to find out if other vbulletin installations experience the same and probably have a workaround.
      Thank you!

Just wanted to post a note here (in addition to the "notice" that went up this morning): we will be taking forum today (May 19 at 3:30pm - eastern US / NYC) to apply bug fixes. Expected down time is around 30 minutes.

Just FYI, I am not sure if intentional, but the "Latest Topics" and "Trending" boxes only appear at far right of the top page when you click on "Forums" in the upper left of the page, but NOT "New Topics" directly below it, nor the "Treeleaf Zendo" banner above it. (Anyway, the "Treeleaf Zendo" banner should probably go to the "treeleaf.org" page anyway.)

Latest Topics being on the right side just on the main overview of the forum provides a quick link to the very latest 3 threads with the option to expand by clicking View All which effectively shows all New Topics. Clicking on New Topics directly makes the Latest Topics redundant if it shows up inside that section. And yeah, I feel the same: Logo on top should link to main website.

I believe it is intentional for the "New Topics" link, as this is is similar to the "New posts" link of the old forum.
It is not a "overview" page, but the result of an intentional click/request for a certain result.
You click it, when you want to see all unread posts - expecting to see all unread posts.
Showing those latest/trending boxes in the result is showing something you've already read, so stands in opposition to what you requested (all new).

The pages providing a general overview, inviting to look around, imho should have those "Trending" and "Latest Topics" (where it is not already in the menu links) boxes.
I am using those to see where the discussions and the latest new threads are, seeing where the discussions happen in the many, sometimes confusing list of sub-forums.
The main page and also the "forums" overview should imho have "invite to look around" elements.
Looking at those pages, I'd expect to see an overview over what is happening in this place. Expectations met.
I will add the "trending" back to the main page. I hope that is ok.

Clicking on the logo for linking back to the "treeleaf.org" page is what Nengei notes above, too, and is on our list.
There are several things connected to the logo. You may have noticed that the quality of the picture itself got a bit better, not so blurred any more.
We also defined a open graph meta tag, so our logo is displayed on social media platforms, when linking to us from there.

          Gassho,
          Kotei. sat/lah today.

Just a note after looking for a moment into it. It is not as easy as it seems to change the link when clicking on the logo.
Vbulletin has a template system, that uses a setting, also used for other, internal processes, for that.
Changing just this occasion manually in this header template is possible, but it would be reverted with the next upgrade.
So, possible, but doing it means having one more thing that makes next updates more difficult and we should add as few as possible hinderances for future updates.
Not a 100% answer, but as this is not a quick fix, this is noted and I'll come back to it later, when more pressing things are done.
Maybe find another way to add such link. maybe as a menu item on top.

          Hi Kotei,

yes, it’s hidden away in the tab you mentioned. Easily overlooked but now I know where it is.

`Kotei, one more reason to do away with this "commenting" function is I cannot comment on your comment above!

I just wanted to say that, if the Treeleaf Logo cannot easily be changed to forward to our webpage, maybe just add a prominent new tab, to the left of NEW TOPICS, that says something like "TREELEAF HOMEPAGE" or something? Is that possible? Just a suggestion.

              Hi,

Not so major but, when a new user comes to be activated for membership in our Forum, I used to get a list of such new registrations (including the hundreds of spam registrations) as part of the Notifications tab on the top bar. It is not there now, so when I am contacted by a new registrant, I must now go to Admin, log in, look up manually their registration name and, on their "User Manager" page, manually switch them from "Users Awaiting Moderation" to "Registered Users." It is not so bad, just a little more time consuming (and does not show me how man spam registrations we are building up, so that I can delete them from time to time.)

I believe a comment is just meant to add a little "oh yes, I feel this too" or "you can read this in Shobogenzo Bukkyo" or so, not a part of the discussion.
But I, myself seem to not have learned that fully yet. hmm.

Yes, regarding the link back, this is what I meant with "Maybe find another way to add such link. maybe as a menu item on top." in the comment.
I am just reluctant with immediately doing it, as all this back and forth changing of menus and functionality surely confuses those, already struggling with learning how to use the new software, even more.
The chance that the change is final imho is larger when letting it sit for a day first.
Thank you for adding weight to the "do it" side.

                Hi Kotei,

I like where you put the homepage link.

I am still not a fan of this "comments" system, but let's leave it to the consensus of all priests and pre-priests. Some like it I know, some others do not.

This is calendar rather than forum. Washin's five weekday morning sits (8:30pm here in Eugene) don't seem to be on the calendar; don't know if that is by design. We have indeed been sitting together. Also I'm seeing the Peace Sit at 6 a.m. here which is correct, but the following cell which I expect to be 7 a.m. and empty shows 6 a.m. again and Peace Sit -- double entry?

Thank you for catching that. Recurring dates are running out after 2 years? or so on google calendar. No idea about why this with the Sunday sit happened.

Hi Bi. I did that, and deleted several pages a couple of days ago, but it persists. It is no where near the thousands of messages it is indicating, especially since doing it the way you describe only lets about 6 messages at a time (on one page) be deleted. Gassho, J

In fact, there are only 6 messages total in my inbox now, and I do not even know where these thousands of messages are to be found.
