Hi Kotei
That’s what j thought those down arrows meant but using them always takes me to the last posted message not the first unread message in the thread. I just tried it again with a thread I am positive I was not caught up on and once again the down arrows brought me to the last post in that thread.
Is there perhaps a user setting I don’t have turned on?

As you can see in the little video, I recorded with our "Gojo" test user logged in, the first thread I clicked on the arrows had 4 post, but it showed the beginning of it, not the last post.
Hmmm. The User settings-> account -> Display mode is set to "posts", not to "latest" as I was testing. But I don't know if that has something to do with it.

Does the first message email to new registrees tell them that they are supposed to email me and tell me a little about themselves and their Zen practice experience? I have had 3 emails in the last couple of days from folks who don't know that they are supposed to write me so that I can activate their account.

I REALLY think that requirement should be put on the very signup page, before they even begin creating an account. We have to assume people dismiss signup confirmation emails, or they just go straight to the activation link, as we do with most online accounts.. Or at the very least least put a mention about how the confirmation email should not be dismissed as it contains crucial information for completing the signup. Something like that.
Stating in CAPITAL LETTERS that it is REALLY important to read and there is the needed step to WRITE AN EMAIL to Jundo.
We need to verify the email address with the activation link contained in it. No way around that.
Either the new members don't get our email (spam detection at the provider or spam folder etc.) or they don't read it.

Team,
Sorry if already reported by somebody.
In the new message window, is there a way to make the text area bigger or allow the user to extend it as one can do here while replying the forum thread? I think it would be more convenient

Also, please consider maybe making all the headers and body text more or less the same size. The use case is the body text is too small for me, I make it bigger in my browser but then all the headers, buttons, etc become gigantic and take too much of my screen.

So as new guy I will just add to the conversation and say that I got a bit confused. I clicked on the contact us which exists at every page which I believe goes to Jundo's email, It essentially appeared to me as the most obvious place to make first contact. Then I did a bit more reading and saw the monastery of open doors and made contact through there which went to "training". I kind of naturally opened with an introduction of sorts to both addresses (I actually sent one of those emails from a work address) and I figured that that was my "story" done... then I made contact with Jundo and then I was sent the automated email which explained that I needed to submit a story which I figured I already had...I then clicked to visit the forum which I did not have complete access to. When I inquired why I didn't yet have access even after I thought I had activated I was met with "have you submitted your story"... I erroneously thought I had sent it already and had perhaps put the cart before the horse? Does this make sense?
In any event all sorted now.

vbulletin's opinion on this is that this is meant as a quick chat windows for a very few lines of text and they suggest using the "Message Center" for the full PM function with a resizable / "grow when you type" editor window.
For the tech people, yes there is a css value that could be changed, but it is in some occasions overridden by Javascript functions for mobile adaptation. So if we modify it, that would be a more time consuming issue and likely not compatible with future forum upgrades.
I'll keep both, the chat editor window size and the suggestion of the general layout changes (head/body font sizes) on our review list.
Thank you!

After quite some time, now taking a look with what you wrote in mind, I agree that there are a lot of possibilities listed how to contact us on the homepage, but no clear "How to join" -> "Register here" or something like that.
More like a hidden mountain path and not the paved way, it should probably be.
Thank you.

Thank you, Kotei and team, for all your hard work. I have come to really appreciate this new place, now that I have figured out which doors are the closets and which the bathrooms.

Just to mention, other new applicants seem to have seen the requirement fine. In might just have been coincidence that three did not see it the other day.

Koushi took care of the iCloud issue.
I didn't report back, but I have added a line of text on top of the Registration form, reminding to look out for an email.
Please look out for an email after submitting the registration form,
asking you to send a short email to ensure you are a "Sentient Being" and not a robot and don't forget to click on the activation link in that email.
