HI. Well, a week has past to try it out and, talking to a couple of the older folks, I think we would still like to be rid of "commenting" and just keep comments/quotes in a single thread, with latest comment or quote at the bottom. Is that okay? The conversations are too disjointed, many responses are missed, etc.

I've heard the same from some and the exact opposite from others.

I was one of the others. As I feel the comment function lets me add a quick reply or aside to a person in a less formal manner than adding to the end of a long thread.

I think through May I have posted 2 thread posts (now 3) and 2 comments. I probably wouldn't have quote-replied either of the comments I made. So the feature makes me almost twice as chatty (which might not be a good thing).

When I enter a discussion, I am automatically taken to Latest Activity, which seems backwards to me (especially when I see the last post on the top). I'd rather start at the beginning of a discussion (i.e., Posts) when I enter and work forward. Is there a way to choose that option?

Hello Dainin,
when reading a discussion thread, on top there are the options "Posts" and "Latest Activities".
Posts should show you oldest posting first, Latest Activities should show you newest first.
You can change the default behavior when
- selecting "User settings" under your image on top right of the screen.
- Choose "Account" on that page,
- Further down in "Conversation Detail Options" choose "Display mode" -> Posts
- hit "Save Changes"

As far as I could test this morning, regardless of how things are set, the default is when viewing a thread, it will automatically scroll down to the most recent post. Latest Posts will simply put the latest activity on top so one can scroll down.. I’ll look into it more..

I see the same thing. And, the way it scrolls triggers a bit of dizziness in me. Is there any way to turn off the scroll and have it just display what it wants to?

Reading the manual, searching the vbulletin website, looking at the configuration interface and template configuration, I couldn't find a way to configure the automatic scrolling to the first unread post.

Not a bug but a feature that I really miss from the old forum that seems to be lost in the new forum was the ability to easily jump to my last unread post in any thread. There used to be a little green button that I could use. This new forum has a button that seems similar but it always drops me to the last post of any thread and then I need to scroll up to get to last post I read.

is that something that can be turned back on or is it a feature that is no longer available?
