Ah, one more. Any way not to tricky just to get videos to automatically appear in threads just with the youtube URL like they used to? Most of our videos have disappeared, leaving only the link.

The automatic showing of videos from the link was a 3rd party module in the old forum.
The downside of that is that all videos load at the same time and in threads with many videos, that will slow down the device it is running on.
Like with image tags (the insert image button in the message editor), there is a video tag (and corresponding video button in the message editor) that shows the video in the post.
I believe the best way to go forward is to edit the more "official" postings and essays, we are again and again referring to, making video tags from the youtube link. (This is already noted in the issue tracker)
For new posts, we should start using the video tag.

Yes, it is possible to write a program/script that searches through the database, generates the necessary update queries and changes those.
The information is spread through a bunch of different tables and with writing the script, debugging, testing, backup, etc. it is quite a job.
And it is not that there is any information missing. The videos are just not shown inline, but are there as links you can click on.
So the thought was to leave those of the regular posts, where members shared youtube videos as links, going forward with the video tag
and edit the often viewed talks and how-to, etc. postings by hand.

If I were to eliminate three or four things from the new Forum, because it makes things rather busy ...
- No inline threaded responses. It is one thing that makes having a conversation on Facebook and Reddit very difficult, and it is very hard to jump back and forth to find peoples' responses in a thread, with separate notifications. Can be go back to the single thread discussions like before, or would that be too major a change?
- I would eliminate the right column on the top page, with features such as "latest topics/latest blog posts/tag_cloud/trending. I see that I can choose to minimize on my own computer, but can it be removed for everyone?
I would not show "sub-forums" on the top page. It is very cluttered. Can that be eliminated?
I think it would leave a more minimalist, less cluttered interface perhaps?

Congratulations and gratitude to all. The forum looks amazing. Well done.
Two things I notice:
First, the Treeleaf Zendo logo no longer links back to the home page, but instead to the forum page. It does not look like there is a direct way to go to the home page from the forum.
Second, is there something that does what the most recent unread posts button used to do? I am not sure what the New Topics button does, but for me it is not showing me unread posts.

The New Topics button should show threads with unread content.
But that content can also be a comment (these little inline remarks). You can sort a thread differently, when you click on latest activity (next to post) on top of the thread.
You would then see all replies and comments separate, newest first. But that makes it difficult to get the context.
There are posts regarding this in this thread and an ongoing discussion, if we want to continue using these comments as little remarks and quotes/replies for more complex answers, or disable those after a tryout period.
I have put the request for a link back to the home page into our issue tracker.

Hi Koushi et al.,
First of all, the updated forum is looking great. Fantastic job, overall it’s much smoother to navigate and interact.
The only thing I’ve noticed is the profile pages lack About tabs when viewing with a mobile device, so things like biographies and other information are not visible.
I noticed when I updated mine and realised that it was not visible on my phone except when actually editing.

Hello Myojin,
after doing a lot of other stuff, I came back to this About tab.
We changed a lot in between, so this problem might have gone?
When using chrome on my phone, on the User Profile page, directly under the "Private Message" and "Subscribe" button,
I can see an options button, that by default stands on "Activities".
Changing it to "About" is working for me.
If it is still not visible for you, can you please let me know which device/browser you are on?

Thank you for helping me with my password! I broke one of my hearing aids, so I am not wearing them which causes me a severe handicap. I also fell severely injuring my left arm which abscessed and became very infected. Yesterday, Marjorie and I drove 26 miles one way for me to receive expect care after my primary rejected my need to see him and ordered a useless test. I believe it always better to have a patient come in for viewing the wound. Often the patient knows the situation better than the provider. On the better side, we returned from a simply glorious visit at our daughter's graduation hooding! We saw a wonderful procession of graduating students becoming Dr's of Philosophy, and Master's of Arts, Science, and Fine Arts. I was treated to the extra special viewing of our daughter receiving her Dr. hood, and a hug from her advisor Dr Copland, and after though our daughter found an excellent teaching and professorial position as Professor of Japanese at University of Denver, Dr Copland told me that she had expected more, and I am pleased our daughter took dad's advice for a lower pressure professorship. She will be much happier. As for the new format, our Zendo is our Zendo, Treeleaf is my Zendo home.

Hello everyone,
thank you for all the feedback and bug reports so far.
As Sekishi wrote, we are taking notes it in our issue tracker and are working on it step by step.
Especially feedback and ideas about the look and feel and design and layout elements, if they don't need immediate action are delayed a bit.
We are still hunting some bugs that are of a more basic nature (character set incompatibilities / issues with updating the search index / security and software stack upgrade, that were delayed, because the old forum software was incompatible with new versions of other tools, tuning the server, fixing security and access permission bugs... )
So nothing new, but I wanted to say why we are not yet engaging more enthusiastic with the decluttering and design and look and feel customization.
Thank you for your patience,

I was unsure where to post this question, so please forgive me if this is the wrong forum. I'd like directions on how to delete some old photos from my Media folder in my profile. Thank you.

Yes, I doublechecked with the manual.
It seems that these photos are treated as part of the postings they were added to, so the posting needs to be edited to prevent broken images in them.
All I could find was someone suggesting:
Go to your username on the top right and select "My Profile"
Select the "Media" tab
Select "Posted Photos"
Select the image that you wish to delete
Select the topic title in the image's caption (It says something like "Photos By <username> in <topic title>")
Hit the "Filter" button on the top right
Select "Photos Only"
Now you have to scroll until you find the post
Edit the post and remove the image

Thank you, Bion and Kotei! That did the trick! I found those ancient posts and deleted the photos from there, and they are no longer in my Media folder. Much appreciated!

Hello everyone working on the technical side of Treeleaf,
I am not sure if my question is something you could answer or solve, but since the website's update I haven't been able to use Tapatalk. When I try to access "Treeleaf Zendo" from the "My groups" tab, I get this message:
Network error, please try again later. (get_config)
I don't know if the problem is the update, or my phone (a Samsung that is getting a bit old), or if I should update/reinstall Tapatalk, or maybe I can access Treeleaf directly in my phone's browser? Has anyone else had problems with Tapatalk since the update?
Thanks in advance for your time and all your work, the updated Treeleaf looks amazing.

It is definitely not your fault.
There is no Tapatalk module installed now and the jury is still out regarding the decision if it will be reinstalled.
I understand that some would like to receive push notifications, which vbulletin (the forum software) does not support, but Tapatalk does.
VBulletin suggests using the subscribe and notify by email function, but that is probably not really a modern replacement.
On the other hand, Tapatalk requires a module in the core of the forum, which allows them access to a lot of private data. Imho a security and privacy nightmare.
We've also had issues in the past, which made our forum inaccessible when the Tapatalk servers, it needs to continuously talk to, are not available.
So yea... personally I think it should be really, really very much needed and wanted in order to install.
At least the new forum software is way better usable on mobile devices.
