It was 6 degree below freezing point the night before and Mios was happy about his hunting success in the snow.

A view from from near my home in southwest New Mexico. Our monsoon rains come in the summer and the desert comes alive. The stick like plants are ocotillo. Most of the year they appear as just branches, in the spring they are topped by red flowers just in time for the arrival of hummingbirds. When the rains finally come hundreds of tiny leaves appear. In Mexico and in the SW United States folks building living fences by tying cut sticks together....when it rains the fences become alive.

tlb1.jpgThis juvenile male bobcat was a patient of mine recently ( I am an Animal Services Officer and Permitted Wildlife Rehabilitator.) This poor things paw and tendons were swollen and he had to be held for care for a short time but was successfully released back into the wild. The individual responsible for trapping this creature had a bit of time to do before he was released. Ah Karma.

image.jpgThis is "Momma Stubbs" stopping by for breakfast today. We take care of about 8 feral cats by feeding them, providing them a warm place to sleep in the garage,etc. Momma Stubbs got her name because as you can see, she has a very very short tail. She had a injury about a year ago, and half her tail was hanging off, eventually falling off...ergo Stubbs!

We took in her daughter, Elsa Joon Stubbs, about a year ago, and she is very domestiisized and lives inside with us, along with her brothers, who were also ferals....Guido and Vinny.
