Back from the Final Frontier! It’s amazing how many practice opportunities there are on a cruise ship, especially when the norovirus hits [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji868]

Oh, this is a whole other level of Star Trek Geek! Love it!
So, what was the consensus among the passengers about Discovery? Just curious.

Yes "whole other level" would be totally accurate. On this cruise, only Star Trek music played on the intercom... all Star Trek on TV all day long, all Star Trek activities and shows, and mostly Star Trek attire (different theme every day, such as "Mirror Mirror," "Captain Sulu's Soiree," etc) Even the elevators were outfitted as turbolifts that announced the deck, and the restaurants were renamed along with all their dishes to go along with the theme. (I got to taste Sisko's famous seafood gumbo!) And the poor bartenders were trying to figure out how to make the drink specials, like a "James Tea Kirk" or "Guinan's Guilty Pleasure."
I think it's too soon to say about Discovery... From what I could discern, I think the actors from the former shows may be feeling like the Gene Roddenberry spirit of hope for a better future may not be borne out in this series. Passengers seemed to be split, some don't like either the movies or the new series... but there were some in Discovery uniforms, and there was cheering to the announcement that two Discovery stars have signed on for next year's cruise.
I am undecided, personally. (TNG was rubbish the first season, after all.) I like the main character and the way they are developing some of the character relations but I wish it were less dark. They are at least approaching some of the moral dilemmas that Star Trek always brought to the forefront.
Now I will shut up about Star Trek and go back to my reading assignment.
