Great idea, Bion — I will keep a bell nearby just in case. Myojin will be there, visible or invisible. In any case, our schedules have found each other. His calm presence and gentle heart accompany me toward sleep at the very time his day is just beginning.

Treeleaf connects people across different places in space and time, creating a safe refuge of practice that holds us all together.

As luck would have it, sleep came 15 minutes after I posted here. I sat zazen anyway, this is just what I do at this time in the morning when left to my own devices.

Kanshin thank you for your words, these things are indeed the way. Sometimes we sit zazen, sometimes we play and read books before dawn. I hope your sesshin was enjoyable and look forward to hearing something about it tomorrow.

Bion That's a very good point, if I am not around (mostly I am, but things happen) then there's nothing to stop whoever else is attending from doing the job of setting the timers and ringing bells.

In any case, all is well so far; zazen was sat, the house is peaceful in the pre-dawn darkness, our son sleeps a much needed sleep. I'll see you tomorrow, but if I don't appear a couple of minutes before then feel free to start without me. There's always the chance I may arrive a little later than planned.

        Good morning/evening all,

We're getting into a nice routine now and it's nice to see new faces popping in.

As mentioned after this mornings sit, next Wednesday morning(February 25th) I probably won't be around as we are going up to Fukushima for a work meeting and staying overnight. But perhaps Kanshin or another might keep the time?

          Dear Myojin,

Thank you for letting us know.

I will be happy to keep the time next Wednesday, so please go to Fukushima with an easy mind.
And Taikyo will also be there if anything is needed.

Safe travels, and we will sit together as always.

Just a quick heads-up> It looks as if I wont be available this morning. Nothing urgent, just a wakeful toddler, but it does preclude zazen.

Hopefully I should be back tomorrow.

Just to let you know, I will be away next week from 12th to the 15th March, so I won't be around those dates.

We're off to Kyoto for a conference of the Ecological Society of Japan where I'll be presenting some early data on using AI/ML models to estimate carbon-dioxide remissions from bamboo forest soils. Should be fun.

In any case I'll be sitting Monday and Tuesday as normal.

It seems that the link is missing from the practice calendar today, so unfortunately we may not be able to sit together as we did yesterday. The same seems to apply for Sunday as well (Monday morning in Japan). Yesterday Taikyo and I kept the time and we intended to do the same today.

In any case, there is a cushion for each of us, and the sitting will happen.

                    Hi Kanshin,
I understood Myoshin's post above as this sitting not happening on those days, so I deleted it from the calendar. Sorry for that.
I have put them back in, as Taikyo or you seem to plan on being there.
                    Bows,

I noticed on the practice calendar that the time for Morning Zazen with Myojin appears to have been moved one hour later. Is this change intentional, or could it be an error?

Isn't the sit anchored to Myojin's time zone? We just changed the time now in Europe, but Japan doesn't. Could that be it?

Ah, that makes perfect sense — thank you, Bion.

I hadn’t considered the time difference with Japan.

Time changes, and yet nothing really moves...

Yes, no daylight savings time changes here in Japan, where Myojin also resides. You all jump around, we are still.

I hadn’t considered that either, although I had noticed a slightly different composition to our group this week. That’ll be why.
