Well, with another typhoon blowing threw Japan today, this week's Talk for Shoka's visit on travels being 'just where you are, who you are with' has special meaning ...

An update from Shoka on their planned overnight climb to watch the sunset on the peak of Mt. Fuji (she said I can share) ...
=================
Jundo,
I thought I should give you an update in case you are watching the weather. We did make it to fuji last night and began hiking in pouring rain around 10 pm. Luckily that cleared up. But there were hikers coming down the trail. The first we meet was a foreigner and was worried about the typhoon so headed down. We continued on because we checked the detailed weather and thought it would be fine.
The sky was amazing as we climbed, clouds floated around the moutian below us. The sky cleared some and we saw the moon and stars. We continued on our way. Then another group came down. The leader was pretty insistent that the typhoon was coming and we should turn back. He was Japanese and appeared to be well prepared with his group. After that warning we took some time to recheck the weather. The storm was moving much faster than before and would hit the moutian around 9 am. We climbed to the next marker and then talked options. We decided the best option was to head back down. So we took a picture of where we got to and turned around.
Coming down we hiked through the clouds, some pouts of pouring rain and lots of wind. We made it down to station 5 around 2:30 and found some space on the floor in the lounge and tried to get some sleep.
The typhoon is currently here, so I was told buses don't come up the mountain and we will have to wait.
Hopefully in a couple hours we will be in a bus on our way back. But until then we wait.
What an adventure!

We are now down the moutian and waiting for a train. Hopefully we will be back in tokyo in 2 hours or so.
There are so many moments and lessons from this adventure.
