I would like to offer Metta and celebrate our Treeleaf Priest, Kaidō Washin, in Odessa, Ukraine, who continues to tend to the members of his local Sangha under very difficult conditions. Right now, they are connected by internet, which is still available, and Washin is somehow also finding time in recent days to be active here at Treeleaf. He is scheduled to be the Ino for our Zazenkai tomorrow although, he writes, it may be impossible because:
His house is not far from the beach, and the news says that a massive invasion landing is possible in the coming days. I have asked him to leave if possible. He says that he will leave the city if there is need, and he has a place to go inland, where a friend has a farm with a shelter. So far, he will not leave those who depend on him in Odessa. Of course, so long as there is some internet, our Treeleaf Sangha will be with him, and his local Sangha members, wherever they go if they must flee the city.
He said that I could share the message, so that people understand in case we do not hear from him for awhile suddenly. He is worried that there is somebody to cover for him as Ino at Zazenkai! (We will all cover for you, Washin!
)
Let us continue to dedicate all our Zazen sitting and all Practice this week to ...

"... the curfew here is in force from 7pm till 6am and it is strongly advised to avoid having the lights on and making noise during the night. There are many saboteur groups in the area that are particularly active at night and it's better not to make unnecessary attraction. Those people can hardly know what these bells and drums are about. However, I still continue to host my daily sits in the morning, Sunday sit and Tonglen and intend to be at Priests' meeting this Sunday provided all is OK.These days I feel I need to be connected to the Sangha more than ever. ... Also, I am inviting people from the local Taichi group (who sat zazen too) to join our [online Zazen] sittings and Tonglen and I hope it is fine.
Finally, a brief report on here.. There are 3 Russian battleships arrived to the area lately and remain on the outer roads anchorage ready to attack the city any time. So far it is quiet, however.
