      Scared?

      lights, camera, rhymic heart sutra music...

      No old age and death,
      No cessation of old age and death;
      No suffering, nor cause or end to suffering;
      No path, no wisdom and no gain.
      No gain – thus Boddhisattvas live this Prajna Paramita
      With no hindrance of mind –
      No hindrance therefore no fear.
      Far beyond all delusion, Nirvana is already here.

      Ta ta!

      There you have it! Get you some sutra man. Take a chill pill. Chillax. Death is already here.

          I like this idea, but how do you know what's good ? How do you know what to do or not do ?
          Also, there are some things that you cannot decide ; if you wake up sad, you can try to force yourself to feel happy, but most of the time it won't really "work" and it will have the opposite effect, for example !
          *I* don't know what's *good*, necessarily. I make decisions on what to do or say based on what is least hurtful and most beneficial to the most people. I try to be mindful of what is going on and what I am feeling, and try to act/react accordingly. If I wake up sad, I don't necessarily try to force myself to be happy; I try to recognize that I am sad, acknowledge it, see if I can figure out *why*....and if I'm still sad, then I deal with it and just try not to dwell on it. I have been sad, frustrated, angry, happy, fearful, etc. at various times, but I try not to stay in any of those states (i.e., force myself to feel a certain way). This is "death" on a larger scale, no? All things end, good and bad....so all things "die", including emotions. You feel great happiness for a few hours, and later in the day, you may feel great sadness. Neither is long-lived. You can't always change them, but you can note and appreciate what is around you (and your feelings!), and note when they change.

          Just be aware of what you are feeling, and don't get hung up on trying to keep or shun the feelings. Try to be mindful and welcome what is.

          Then have a cup of tea and sit zazen.

          My 2 cents' worth.
