    G+ hates me.

And is a very good teacher.

I thought I was in the hangout, only nobody else was there.

    So I sat.

Afterwards, some second button had appeared, asking if a wanted to join "on air".

    I - sat - on - the - doorstep - all - the - time

Thanks to all for the teaching.

I was wondering about your knees, too, Jundo.

    Happy Vesak everyone!!

Great sitting with you once again, Jundo!

For those of you who have trouble joining the Hangout (had this at first, too):
Start Google+ (NOT the Hangouts page), search for "Treeleaf Sangha" (there are two possibilities, take the one with the smaller logo), select it and there you'll find the link for joining.
      Hope it helps.

      Gassho,

      Daitetsu

Hi (would you mind signing with a human name, and adding a human face for your avatar ... even though the little guy is cure. It helps make this place, well, a little more human!),

This sitting was really nothing special at all, and at a rather serious long retreat folks will often go longer, sometimes late into the night, and for many days, perhaps stopping for meals and such. So, please do not be so impressed. One secret is to just find the balanced places of body and mind, and keep to them. Also, the body is constantly changing even during a long sitting. We recommend this book around here on posture during sitting, so it is actually "balanced places" ...

Book Recommendation: - THE POSTURE OF MEDITATION
Hi, I would like to recommend a book about, and entitled, "THE POSTURE OF MEDITATION" (by Will Johnson). http://www.amazon.com/Posture-Meditation-Will-Johnson/dp/1570622329/ref=pd_sim_b_1 I believe that its philosophy of finding a sitting posture is very much as we encourage here at Treeleaf, namely, we each have

As to you legs falling asleep, this is usually pressure on the sciatic nerve, which can be alleviated by shifting the weight off that spot, and also sitting on the Zafu correctly so that it does not pinch the spot. Today, I sat about 50 or 55 minutes a sitting, I had no sleepy legs or cramps (although tomorrow, well, might be another story. It happens to all of us).

I've noticed as I've started sitting longer (after each of the Zazen lessons for beginners I find I sit more to let things sink in) I've been having a problem with pins and needles in my legs when I get up. I was sitting half-lotus, but then as I noticed this happening I tried switching to burmese, and I've tried supported

Oh, and if I looked a little rounded in the back, I must confess to putting two thick sweaters on .... it got cold this afternoon! In my younger days, I sat in snowy temples with the windows open, finding the warmth within. Now, I want my hot water bottle!

Thank you everyone for the company today.

                Gassho, J
