Metta Request for Peter Muryo Matthiessen Roshi

    Dear All,

A special metta request from my mentor (and an inspiration for Treeleaf's founding), Mitch Doshin Cantor of the White Plum. Doshin's teacher is Muryo Roshi, Peter Matthiessen, the naturalist-explorer who also happens to be one of the great American writers of the past century. Doshin writes ...

Jundo--Muryo is in the last transition. We are hoping his vitals will get to a point where he can have hospice at home. The attached article was released today.I hope you will find it of value and perhaps share it where you are comfortable.

Hopefully, he will get to see the reviews in the coming week or so.

    Love,Mitch
Doshin is referring to this article today on Muryo Roshi that is in the New York Times. The man seems to be leaving this world with as much grace and energy as he has lived in it.

An amazing life story, and such amazing books (I recommend "The Snow Leopard" and "Nine Headed Dragon River" to folks is you have never read any of his stuff) ...

Let us sit for Muryo Roshi, who brought so much into this world.

    Nine Bows, J

Much metta to Muryo Roshi. As I young man, I was greatly influenced by his book "The Snow Leopard." I often quote him in my yoga classes when I am trying to stress the importance of breath to my students. "In this very breath that we now take lies the secret that all great teachers try to tell us."

I will sit for him and send much metta...The Snow Leopard is probably my favourite book and touched me deeply as I know it has so many others. I am very sad to hear he is leaving this world and I hope that he is able to have hospice at home.

Much metta to Muryo Roshi and his family and friends. I have The Snow Leopard but never read it. Will do so now.

I hope he can get to be at home in his final days.
