    What a blessing.
My husband and I drove down from Albuquerque to Las Cruces yesterday to meet Jundo Roshi and Daiho Roshi, Jishin and Leon for lunch. Late summer monsoon rains have greened up our high desert and mountains making for a beautiful drive.

Meeting Daiho and Jundo in person was a deep joy. Both amazing men. So much to learn from them both and from all on this forum.

        Lorax

Thanks for the update. As news spreads on the storm Harvey devastation, its good to know Jundo and his son are safe but much metta to all affected.
Wonderful teaching from the New Mex Zazenkai talk, will sit with the last section in the morning.

BTW - Can anyone point me to a link for the Retreat Chant book. Thought I had a copy from last year's Ango but can't find it. Just have the Weekly/Monthly Zazenkai book to hand.

But Doshin's big excitement was his finding a few crevice spiny lizards!

It was so good to sit with all of you in New Mexico, me in the old mining town of Colfax, California, my father and wise Marjorie at 3000 ft, my father's enclave AND YOU Jishen, Jundo, and all, me the only Buddhist, but more likely here in California than in South Dakota, anywhere in South Dakota, thoughy I hear wind that is changing for us as Tharavada monks come to Peace UCC, draw from the ALL SOULS UU church there in Sioux Falls, and here in California I weare the Buddhist prayer shawl, my wife brought me from Kyoto. Jundo in case you haven't figured it out by now, my long winded narratives are really poems to my Treeleaf Zendo. I sat this morning alone at 5:30 watching the sun through slits of eyes, breathing in out, thoughts rolling over.

                Dear All,

Tonight, I am in Lubbock Texas at Jishin's house, where we had to go because of the terrible Hurricane in south Texas. I was unable to visit Lorax in Marfa and Meishin in Austin as planned. Tomorrow, we drive directly to Dallas, where Leon and I will spend a day before heading home. I am sorry that the trip is ending a little earlier than planned, but all are in my heart.

I will write something longer and more heartfelt to all the people I met on this trip once I catch my breath.

Let us offer Metta for the people of southern Texas tonight.

                Gassho, Jundo

How about a Dobiekai at Jishin's house? Or an Aussiekai? [emoji190]
Thanks to Jishin and family for providing you a safe place to land, with the weather crisis so nearby. I'm sure all understand that your and Leon's safety is paramount. I hope the rest of your trip is enjoyable and safe!

Gassho Frankie that worked fine. Too many devices too many different files stored, so I need to collate on Drive or something like that.

Yes Jundo, stay safe, thought you and Leon were in New Mexico, I am greateful Lubbock and Dallas are less affected. I trust, hopefully you both will be safe the way you are traveling to--thinking the rest of the South might be affected. Do take care and be safe.
