Thank you Kokuu, I have always loved Haiku's, but I enjoy reading them and letting them soak my whole being, rather than writting them myselfHi all
A lovely short article from The Haiku Foundation:

Thank you for the refresher Kokuu!
I've often referred to those definitions by Robert Spiess and the HSA for guidance. They provide needed focus, but are still not too rigid/restrictive.

Lovely, Nick!Words on white paper
Animal tracks cross the snow
I follow them both
Just to say there is no need to stick to 5-7-5 structure unless you want to. Japanese sound units (morae) tend to be shorter than western syllables so Japanese haiku translate into fewer syllables in English.

Thank you.
I like the discipline that the 5-7-5 structure forces upon me. My tendency is to use too many words... for everything.
How does one participate in the Haiku Club here on Tree Leaf?

You participate just by posting poems! There is a thread for that: https://www.treeleaf.org/forums/show...-Your-Haiku%21
This is a nice piece by my friend Alan Summers on writing in 5-7-5: http://area17.blogspot.com/2016/03/5...-as-three.html
The former Zen monk Clark Strand is also a fan of that structure.
