This is Valdeci. He works down the street. Via hand signals much like the pits in the CBOE he placed his bet on the afternoon draw. Wish him luck.

禅戒一如 (Zen Kai Ichi Nyo) - Zazen and the Precepts are One!
This is my attempt at a first attempt at a makeshift altar for my meditation space, after reading Susan Pliver's 'Start Here Now' (which is not in the Zen tradition). My apologies for my photo not being as well done as I feel the rest of the photos in this thread are. This is from just before I joined Treeleaf Zendo. It remains the same, except now my meditation cushions are across the room so I can face the wall when I sit Zazen. The pictures of flowers are for beauty and impermanence, the electric tealight is because my host where I live is afraid of fire and has asked me not to light things.. I was going to put pictures of the buddha and Quan Yin? (sp?) and others in the frames but when I propped it up against the object it seemed perfect the way it was. The objects are trinkets that are special to me. Not pictured but nearby in a aromatherapy misting diffuser that I use instead of incense, for the same reason I was using the electric tealight. Currently I am enjoying the scent of Orange, or was.
Looking at the photo, I'm not sure what to do with how busy it seems, because there are 4 of us living in this house, 5 when my niece is home from college, and I moved here from a one bedroom apartment (You can see one of the spaces for my books under the table that I am using for the altar), so I am lucky to have as much space as I do for my things.
I have now watched the first sit-a-long in the Beginner Talks section. Thank you for pointing me to them, Kotei?, and recording them, Jundo.
Blessings,
Theresa

I think it looks terrific Theresa. Mine is just a tiny section of our bookcase up high surrounded by cooking, animal and other miscellaneous books. Space is hard to find our one room dwelling and 2 of our cats would absolutely demolish an alter any lower haha.
