I got the meaning but let me ask you a question to really see if I grasp the point

(what is your reaction when your mind wonders during the practice?

do you react or observe or ignore and grab your attention to the present moment again or or ....)

(Is it a practice of not practicing anything ? )

I think this question can help me deepen my understanding

    Gassho,
    Adel,
    Heya!

A fun bit of Onsho lore: My mind isn't a still quiet place. I have a song playing in my head 24 hours a day. It plays over and over again non stop. When im talking to someone, as i read a book quietly, while I sit and even if i wake up in the middle of the night to pull my pillow behind my head. In my complete zazen career, i have had a quiet mind less than 10 times spanning from 30-90 seconds.

When i sit I do not use that time to plan or prepare or figure anything out. Regardless my thoughts will play like a radio in the background of the supermarket.

    My reaction is no reaction.

Thoughts aren't an obstacle, your relationship TO your thoughts are the obstacle.

I was thinking of a poetic way to express the ease and simplicity of this today and here's a little fiction i came up with.

Everyday Adel waters his plants in the garden. He take a few minutes to admire the perfect green foliage. He waters it daily so it stays lush and grows healthy. Adel doesn't know what these plants are but its very fulfilling. It brings him joy to do this. it feels calm and he feels focused. He does it just to do it and its very nice. Today Adel went to water the garden and there were flowers everywhere! How joyus.

Sitting just to sit (watering your garden) is complete just as it is. But every now and then your mind just might be still and at ease (flowers).

    Gassho,
    Onsho

      Hey Onsho,

I would like to say that this message is really beautiful and warm hearted

First, Oh my God , Onsho you are talking about me not you My mind doesn't stop playing songs too. Especially at night with the pillow. I felt a sense of common humanity reading it.

Also, This little fiction is really beautiful and artistic. I just added it in my notes and I will read it daily. It is really wonderful and to the point.

You made my day and I wish you serene loving day

        Hi Adel,

        Thank you for your post!

I also am neurodivergent and have ADHD. When I first started sitting, I could barely sit for 5 minutes! My mind was everywhere (it still is after more than 10 yrs). But that’s okay. Bring your breath and mind back to Now. For me in the beginning, I began with following my breath. Any time I noticed my mind drifting off, bring it back to the breath.

        Maybe this will help?

        Gasshō,
