The 67th of 108 Gates Of Dharma Illumination

                  Gate Sixty-seven
Read the following, place it in your heart and sleep on it. Then, tomorrow, live it until evening when you can leave a brief comment on what you may have received during the process.

The power of wisdom is a gate of Dharma illumination; for [with it] we depart from the two extremes.

Prajñā/Wisdom : is a Buddhist term often translated as "wisdom", "intelligence", or "understanding". ... In the context of Buddhist meditation, it is the ability to understand the three characteristics of all things: anicca (impermanence), dukkha (dissatisfaction or suffering), and anattā (non-self).

By “Dharma Gate”, We mean a teaching or practice that can lead to spiritual growth: some kind of positive outcome in terms of our practice. A way to approach the truth.
                  Koan:
" When the practitioner breathes in or breathes out and contemplates the essential impermanence or the essential disappearance of desire or the no-birth, no-death nature of all phenomena or letting go — he abides peacefully in the observations of the objects of mind, persevering, fully awake, clearly understanding his state, gone beyond all attachment and aversion to this life."

                  My practice,
                  Like tuning guitar strings,
Learning to know when to stop,
So a string does not break,
                  And when to push more
For a string to make a sound.

                  Clinging to insistance
                  Has never been the path
                  Of wisdom.
                  Knowing that others
                  Need find their own way
I stay silent in the darkness.

                  Knowing left from right
                  We walk straight
                  And never backwards

Read the following, place it in your heart and sleep on it. Then, tomorrow, live it until evening when you can leave a brief comment on what you may have received during the process.

Mindfulness, as a part of the state of truth, is a gate
of Dharma illumination; for it is wisdom that accords with real dharmas.

Mindfulness: keeping aware; heedful: mindful of your duties

By “Dharma Gate”, We mean a teaching or practice that can lead to spiritual growth: some kind of positive outcome in terms of our practice. A way to approach the truth.

Koan: "Fifteen psychologists and neuroscientists, after reviewing hundreds of mindfulness studies, published a report in October 2017 that argues there is still much we don’t understand about mindfulness and meditation. Worse, many scientists and practitioners don’t even agree on the definition of those words. They end the paper calling for “truth in advertising by contemplative neuroscience." It’s not surprising that meditation would affect attention, since many practices focus on this very skill. And, in fact, researchers have found that meditation helps to counter habituation—the tendency to stop paying attention to new information in our environment. Other studies have found that mindfulness meditation can reduce mind-wandering and improve our ability to solve problems. Studies to date do suggest that meditation helps mind and body bounce back from stress and stressful situations. For example, practicing meditation lessens the inflammatory response in people exposed to psychological stressors, particularly for long-term meditators. According to neuroscience research, mindfulness practices dampen activity in our amygdala and increase the connections between the amygdala and prefrontal cortex. Both of these parts of the brain help us to be less reactive to stressors and to recover better from stress when we experience it. Many well-designed studies have shown that practicing loving-kindness meditation for others increases our willingness to take action to relieve suffering. It appears to do this by lessening amygdala activity in the presence of suffering, while also activating circuits in the brain that are connected to good feelings and love.”
