The 72nd of 108 Gates Of Dharma Illumination

      Gate Seventy-two
Read the following, place it in your heart and sleep on it. Then, tomorrow, live it until evening when you can leave a brief comment on what you may have received during the process.

Entrustment as a part of the state of truth, is a gate of Dharma illumination; for [with it] conduct is already managed
      .
Entrustment: to charge or invest with a trust or responsibility

By “Dharma Gate”, We mean a teaching or practice that can lead to spiritual growth: some kind of positive outcome in terms of our practice. A way to approach the truth.

      Koan:
"According to the British Buddhologist Paul Williams, "For many Buddhists in East Asia since early times, the Lotus Sūtra contains the final teaching of Shakyamuni Buddha—complete and sufficient for salvation. In Chapter 22 the Buddha transmits the Lotus Sūtra to all bodhisattvas in his congregation and entrusts them with its safekeeping and its propagation far and wide. The Buddha Prabhūtaratna in his jeweled stupa and the countless manifestations of Shakyamuni Buddha return to their respective buddha-fields. The Lotus Sūtra appears to end with Chapter Twenty-Two, when the Buddha exhorts his disciples to spread the teaching, after which they return to their abodes."

      Every night when falling asleep,
I trust I'll wake up tomorrow,
      Though I cannot be sure.
      Entrusting my breath to Dharma,

      The Dharma carries itself out.
      My trust in you
      Can only be fulfilled if
      First I (can) trust me.

      Trust in the Dharma
      When all fades
      It alone remains

          To take enjoyment from the Dharma;
What a happy thought, to drink the ambrosia of stillness.
And to never need a refill.

Sometimes I find it hard to trust myself, to believe in my abilities, or that I can be kind.
But I can trust in you, and your abilities to do these things.
And like a jewel mirror, that trust reflects back to me.

The balanced state, as a part of the state of truth, is a gate of Dharma illumination; for [with it] we recognize that all dharmas are in equilibrium.

Balanced State: being in harmonious or proper arrangement; proportional

By “Dharma Gate”, We mean a teaching or practice that can lead to spiritual growth: some kind of positive outcome in terms of our practice. A way to approach the truth.

                        Koan:
"To stand in the middle; Gil Fronsdal says this "standing in the middle" refers to a balance that comes from inner stability--remaining centered when surrounded by turmoil.
The Buddha taught that we are constantly being pulled in one direction or another by things or conditions we either want or hope to avoid. These include praise and blame, pleasure and pain, success and failure, gain and loss. The wise person, the Buddha said, accepts all without approval or disapproval. This forms the core of the Middle Way that forms the core of Buddhist practice. "
