Gate Three
We review the Gates by reading the following, placing it in your heart and sleeping on it. Then, tomorrow, live and practice it until evening when you leave a brief comment as to how it affected you.
Delight is a gate of Dharma-illumination; for it is the mind of peace and tranquillity.
One method of exploring the Dharma Gates to deepen our practice is to research and study koans such as:
"Upon seeing the morning star, Gautama became Shakyamuni
Buddha when He was, is and will be awakened to His
TRUE SELF and said, says and will say, “I was, am and will
be enlightened, together with the whole of the great earth
and all its sentient beings, simultaneously.. "
-Master Keizan's Denkoroku/ Nearman ch. 1
Can you relate this to Gate #3
One poetic response to this question was:
Delight in the Buddha way
Is the wellspring of peace
As the waters of Mind
Flow clear and bright
Gassho, Shokai
