Welcome to our Engaged Practices section, everyone. I am Seiko, and Jundo has asked me to stir things up here, activate our Sangha's work with engaged and charitable practices, and to get all involved!
So before we start. I'd like to welcome everyone to this section of Treeleaf and ask you all for your support. It can only work if you all join in.
If you'd like to keep this close at hand, as a link, icon, shortcut or whatever, here it is: LINK TO ENGAGED AND CHARITABLE PROJECTS CENTER
This is a forum for the creative development of charitable and socially engaged projects and practices seeking to aid and assist our fellow sentient beings in this world. Please join in and do your part.
Of course, we ask all our members to engage in our "Lend-A-Hand" good deeds each day:
We ask our members to do their best (unless circumstances really prevent) to come to our Forum only after they have dedicated a "Lend-A-Hand" act of charity, aid and good works, whether big or small, within the prior 24 hours (please refrain from posting until you do), and that posters affix "LAH" to their posts to show that they have. However, as with "SAT," this is not meant to brag about what you have done, but only to encourage others in our Sangha to join in the spirit of community action. Thus, DO NOT SAY what you did ... but rather, just do something good, and in your heart silently dedicate it to Treeleaf's LAH efforts. By placing LAH in your post, we will know that you did something big or small, but never know what. Only you will know.

We also ask you to anonymously report some of your good deeds, not to brag, but simply to inspire others with examples of what can be done:

I will also introduce from time to time some group projects that, we hope, we can all join in as a Sangha community. We might raise funds for schools, clinics and other charities around the world, engage in local blanket drives for the homeless, neighborhood clean-ups, reaching out to befriend the lonely ... Please stay tuned here for upcoming announcements and Sangha projects that we will do together. We'll suggest certain actions that you can take, in large and small ways. The will be simple ideas that are eminently do-able by anyone.
Folks will be asked to contribute only as their health, other personal responsibilities, and financial conditions allow. However, we will all pull together as a team to help sentient beings, and bring some good into this world.
Also, please feel free to post here and suggest some project ideas that we can all do together as a community.
Our Bodhisattva Vow is to rescue the sentient beings, and this is part of that. This brings Zazen and the Precepts to life.
