The Bye-Bye Jukai, Ango's Done Gone, Retreat-Defeat Blues

So our Ango is finished now, and our Rohatsu Retreat, while our Jukai Ceremony draws near. I've received some comments from folks, as I do every year:

Many people say how wonderful Ango and Rohatsu have been, but, also, some feel a bit of "post-Ango Angst," Rohatsu regrets, low on their supply of Jukai Juice!

The little Talk during this week's Zazenkai was about that.

This Practice is a moment by moment hike in the hills, not a sprint or a race to a goal line of any kind.

Thank you again for the talk Jundo. It's all too easy to get stuck comparing the intensive practice of retreat with day-to-day life. Your timely talk was exactly what I needed last week to help break my own post-Rohatsu "funk", and this post was a good reminder to revisit the talk once more.

And I'm very much looking forward to this teaching as well.

Well, I didn't finish the third of my books, skimmed the second and will look at it with interest in more depth (double reactant intended), and realized I did not like the first, preferring my Zen separate from my 12th steps straight up. The vow to remain only in my church on Facebook did not materialize until this last week of Ango, and even then I have to stretch to Zen, and other things of discovery. And, I learned about Master Hongzhi who I will explore with pleasure. All and all a good Ango. Much learned about self and Self. Let's sit with recording. Excuse my excess, Jundo.

What are the Gates; are they an entrance, or something sacred I know nothin? This is what we mean to explore, and Rob D you are very much like me. Yes, though I am nearing 70, I am still filled with "words!" Marjore says she will have these words carved on my epitaph. "Poet, Teacher, Lover, Friend" CET
