            Some of the protective amulets I mentioned, like my wife put on the childrens' bags. Some even come with "Hello Kitty!" ...



            A decoration for the doorways at New Years, much as my wife hung at our place ...



            Tomorrow, they will all be burned at the "Dondo Yaki" fire at a local Shinto Shrine ...

                                                    Interestingly (or not), in English cricket it is considered bad luck when the score is on 111. In Australia it is 87. No idea why for either but these things do seem to be culture specific.
