October 8th-9th Treeleaf Weekly Zazenkai - "Drum and Accordion" Zazenkai
Thank you all. I joined across shifted space-time.
Enlightenment has no tree,
the bright mirror has no stand.
Fundamentally nothing exists,
so where can you find the dust?
... Now where is my feather duster?

Gassho,
Thanks,

Please take this layman's words with a grain of salt.
Finished sitting with you all on demand this morning. I enjoyed that rendition of the Heart Sutra! I am not too into polka (just personal musical tastes), but when played like this the accordion is quite lovely.
I had expected to sit this live but just a few hours beforehand I was given the opportunity to immediately attend a two-day sesshin at a local Zen center; the first live sesshin for a year-and-a-half. The opportunity happened because I asked a local priest to be my teacher and they said, provisionally, yes. ("Provisionally" because we have been friends for a very long time and we need to see if this new relationship will work considering our history.)
So, I'm happy. At least for now I get double the zen!

Hōkan = 法閑 = Dharma Serenity
To be entirely clear, I am not a hōkan = 幇間 = taikomochi = geisha, but I do wonder if my preceptor was having a bit of fun with me...
Beautiful Heart Sutra, so beautiful, metta to myself, metta to my wife and daughter, metta to Shokai who eased me into old age, I respect his priesthood, metta to all new people, may all find the peace I have found here. I celebrate all metta for all.
