We resume our dance with the Heart Sutra with these lines ...

    No/ suf/fer/ing/, nor/ cause/ or/ end/ to/ suf/fer/ing/;

    No/ path/, no/ wis/dom/ and/ no/ gain/.

    No/ gain/ – thus/ Bod/dhi/satt/vas/ live/ this/ Praj/na/ Pa/ra/mi/ta/*

    With/ no/ hin/drance/ of/ mind/ –

    No/ hin/drance/ there/fore/ no/ fear/.

    Far/ be/yond/ all/ de/lu/sion/, Nir/va/na/ is/ al/rea/dy/ here/.

The first lines are, of course, a reference to the Four Noble Truths, traditionally phrased along the lines of ...

There is the Truth of Suffering [Dukkha],
the Truth of the Cause of Suffering,
the Truth of the End of Suffering, and

I offer a basic introduction to these Truths in our 'Buddha-Basics' Series:
Were going to start a new series of 'Sit-a-Long with Jundo’s' on some fundamental Buddhist teachings — those things every Buddhist needs to know (and not know) — and maybe the most fundamental, insightful and elegant is the Buddha’s teaching of the Four Noble Truths, and Dukkha: So, what are the 'Four Noble Truths' (the

To mark a safe return from the heat of Las Vegas ... our Hokie Pokie is by the King of the Strip, Elvis ...

Actual copy of "What the Buddha Taught" owned by Elvis Presley:

Throughout his life, Elvis was fascinated by religions and spirituality, and as an avid reader he owned a comprehensive library covering a variety of religious and theological subjects. Offered is a copy of What the Buddha Taught by Walpola Rahula that Elvis gave to his bodyguard Dave Hebler, as Dave recounts in the accompanying handwritten note: “Elvis was a spiritual person and we exchanged thoughts on the subject a number of occasions. After one of these conversations, Elvis gave me a couple of books to read. One book was titled The Spirit of Zen [by Alan Watts] and the other was titled What the Buddha Taught.” https://www.barnebys.se/auktioner/ob...er-G8_1E_ZaTe1

I'll be joining you all later this weekend with the recording (first time in over a year...). It's my 26th wedding anniversary today, and we have dinner reservations at the same time tonight.

            Gassho,

Oh, man!! I don’t want to miss that Hokey Pokey! I am down for the count and waiting for antibiotics to kick in. I’ll save my best Elvis moves for when I’m able to sit with you all.

              Happy Anniversary, Seikan!

I'm on antibiotics right now and they have kicked in! And I really don't want to jostle anything during the Hokey Pokey ...

                Hope you feel better.

And yes, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Seikan! Sorry #25 was during COVID.

                Deep bows,
                Sekishi
