Thank you everyone. I sat with the recording today.
Metta to Jundo and his friends. May we be able to recognise our attachment to opinions for what it truly is. May we see the person in front of us for who they really are. May love and compassion shine through delusion.

Just for the record, I was called a "communist" by one fellow for stating that, in my personal view, it is an aspect of our Precepts and Vows that children should have access to quality and affordable health care, and that I benefit from living in Japan which has an excellent national health insurance system (saved my life from cancer, weeks in hospital after surgery, all kinds of tests, rehab, for the equivalent of a few thousand dollars), which to some, is "socialism" which is "communism."

I was called by another a "racist" for stating that racial minorities may be sometimes discriminated against in subtle ways in society (thus, I am a "racist" against white people).

It is a harsh world these days.

People can get so stuck in delusion that they start seeing attacks against them that aren't even there... It makes me sad

The world is very polarised now, the art of debate is almost dead, people look for opportunities to call each other names. I understood that no matter how gently you'll try to explain to others certain things, they won't listen. My neighbour I grew up with is edging on extreme far right, he's filling my inbox with conspiracy theories. I don't challenge him on his views, instead I ask what he's afraid of. I don't speak up about BLM, I ask my black friends about their experiences. I have a couple of Muslim friends who indirectly are trying to convert me. They're the most gentle and generous people I've ever met, I listen to them with curiosity, my views about religion don't matter - they as people do matter. After the government in my country announced near total ban on abortion (where there is zero support for disabled people) I haven't called my nun for a week, to let my head cool off. My nun and her love matters and not her ultra orthodox Catholic views.
Dear Jundo, is it possible that your mastery at words and previous laywer occupation makes it tempting and kind of a second nature to engage in dabates?
I believe that Dharma cannot be defended in words, it is lived out in the relation we have to other human being (other sientent beings) and one of the ways to connect is to touch people's fear. Underneath the ping pong game of opinions there's fear.

I'm sorry for going over 3 sentences and if I overstepped my mark with this post.

Hah! There is a time to sit silently, in Wholeness and Light, beyond words.

There is a time to just assent to the world, silently, with equanimity at whatever transpires.

There is a time to just smile at a friend's opinion, agreeing to disagree, for the friendship is most important.

There is a time to walk past, because some things are just not worth the trouble.

But there is also a time to speak up, to press a point, especially today in which so many people have no respect for fact, history, science and what is right. That is the time to open one's mouth, to say what needs to be said, to argue against ignorance and misinformation, and to speak one's piece.

                                All in its time.

(Sorry for running long this time)
