I am a novice priest-in-training. Anything that I say must not be considered as teaching
and should be taken with a 'grain of salt'.
I’m not black or gay or conservative, but I am a Tom and it is a special name and I will use that name well to be gentle
Gassho,
Tom,
Sat/will Lah soon
Well, in Zen and Mahayana teachings, you are a totally Tom who is not black or gay or conservative, the unique one in the whole universe, and you are thoroughly you and should live that fact well.
However (because we never look at things only one way in Zen and Mahayana teachinigs), you are also every other Tom, and everyone and thing by every name and nameless too, so are thoroughly black and gay and conservative too, at least in some way.
Thank you all for your participation, this was wonderful, and the talk was extremely relevant. It's so easy to get wrapped up in identities and division, and it's good to remember that it's necessary to wash away all, not just the bad.
I just (FINALLY!!!!) sat with you on demand....wonderful as ever!
Thanks everyone of yous/non-yous and yet yous beyond any you that make this place and practice so beautiful!
& Jundo! Wow...the talk! Wonderful....just such a simple and yet utterly deep dive into genjo-koan! Only as you can do it like that, Teacher!
Loved it quite a lot!
