There is actually many esoteric interpretations on this, but in Buddhism to circumnambulate clockwise is usually considered auspicious.

It's 2 Neils here. It's a great nickname I think I will build him into more of my blogging work from hereon in .

Many thanks for inviting me into the sangha and involving me in the ceremony last night. For me at here in the UK 12 to 4am is a full on stint but I felt always welcome, both myself and the blue man!

The whole thing was a pretty surreal introduction what with it being 4 hours, buddha's birthday weekend and dharma transmissions having occured. To be honest at moments I had to snap myself back into the moment. I think I was probably hallucinating with lack of sleep.

However I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

I will be posting about my experience tomorrow to celebrate Buddha's birthday!.

Anyway once again thank you for the welcome and I hope to join you for the dead of night shift most Fridays.

One question on the Metta Verse during the last two 4hr Zazenkais. With the more "and with feeling" approach, that is great, I could not help noticing this time that "grateful" has been substituted for "gentle". Was not sure if that was a once off, or you had revised the verse wording, impermanence and all that jazz ? Just an observation.
