        I would be happy to chant the heart sutra in German - I happen to be a native speaker. I've got a full translation here. I can only be at zazen every second week though. Can we wait until my wooden fish has arrived from ebay though?

                Just sat zazenkai with you all.
                Sat beyond English, Spanish, leaf blowers in Japan, the dog barking in the neighbor's yard and the smoke detector at the top of my stairs (who apparently needs its battery checked...) Much thanks to everyone (nice job, Kyonin) and last question: where can I get an "All life is our temple" Treeleaf T-shirt?

                  Hi Hoko,

                  We tried the t-shirts once a few years ago, and once was enough. We are not a Sangha for usually selling things like coffee mugs and tote bags.

                  So, you will have to make your own for your personal use. Feel free.

                        I'll be more than happy to chant El Sutra Del Corazón! Here is my translation of our Heart Sutra. It may seem a little longer, but Spanish is longer than English. I translated it as close as possible so it wouldn't get anything lost in translation.

                        El Sutra de la Perfección de la Gran Sabiduría *
                        Avalokiteshvara bodhisattva, quien despertó
                        al Prajna Paramita, la Perfección de la Gran Sabiduría *
                        Percibió el vacío de las Cinco Condiciones
                        y se liberó del sufrimiento.
                        O Shariputra, la forma equivale al vacío;
                        el vacío equivale a la forma;
                        la forma es precisamente el vacío, el vacío es precisamente la forma.
                        Las sensaciones, percepciones, formaciones y consciencia también son así.
                        O Shariputra, todas las cosas son expresiones del vacío,
                        Nada nace, ni se destruye, nada se mancha, nada es puro;
                        Nada se oculta, nada nace.
                        Por eso el vacío no es la forma; no hay sensación, no hay percepción, no hay formación, no hay consciencia.
                        No existen ojos, oído, nariz, lengua, cuerpo ni mente.
                        No existen los sentidos de la vista, oído, olfato, gusto, tacto, ni objeto mental;
                        No hay reino de la vista, no hay reino de la consciencia;
                        No existe la ignorancia, no existe el fin a la ignorancia;
                        No hay vejez ni muerte;
                        No hay cesación de vejez ni muerte;
                        No hay sufrimiento, no existe causa o fin para el sufrimiento;
                        No hay camino, no hay sabiduría y nada qué ganar.
                        Nada qué ganar, por ende los Bodhisattvas viven en Prajna Paramita*
                        Sin ningún obstáculo mental-
                        Sin obstáculos el miedo se va.
                        Más allá del autoengaño, el Nirvana siempre ha estado aquí.
                        Todos los Budas pasados y futuros
                        Viven en Prajna Paramita*
                        Y alcanzan la suprema y completa iluminación.
                        Por eso entiende que Prajna Paramita
                        es el mantra sagrado el mantra luminoso,
                        el mantra supremo, el mantra incomparable
                        con el que el sufrimiento se va
                        Esto es la verdad
                        Por ello entona el mantra de Prajna Paramita
                        Canta este mantra y proclama *
                        Gate Gate
                        Paragate
                        Parasamgate
                        Bodhi! Suaka!
                        Han Nya Shin Gyo * * *//

                        Gassho,

                        Kyonin
                        Sat/LAH
                        Kyonin, you made me smile when you said Spanish is a little longer than English. That explains why the Spanish speakers around here (New Mexico along the border) talk fast. I am usually trying to translate the first words when they finish.

                            Hello,

                            thank you all very much.

                            @Joyo: maybe we should translate a version together (just joking) ;-)
                            Living in northern Germany as an offspring of a local family, I am missing hearing and speaking Plattdüütsch (Low German).
                            It's slowly fading away. People in rural areas and some older ones in the cities are still speaking it. My granddad refused to speak and understand anything else :-).
                            I know, Plautdietsch is somewhat different from Plattdüütsch, but it's interesting, how much I am able to understand.

                            Gassho,
                            Kotei sat/LAH today.

                                It is fading away. However, recently there have been a huge number of Mennonites (old order) moving into my area and I hear them speaking it when I see them out shopping. We also have many Hutterites here, and there German is a bit different, not sure if it is Plattduutsch.

                                Either way, it's nice to meet someone here who knows about the fading language of Plautdietsch. =)
