    Thank you so much for that article, Joyo. I have been fighting that need to achieve my whole life (although I probably should just accept it is there!). Even in illness, I need to be the best sick person I can!

    I read a similar piece some time ago called 'Dare to be average' that stuck in my mind. In a world when we are encouraged to always be striving, dropping that is so freeing.

        I liked the article Thanks for sharing. I do take issue with the "mediocre" part of her message. I understand that she is using that to characterize her life in comparison to an idealized life but nothing in her expression of life said "mediocre" to me. Sounds like she has found a good balanced perspective.

          Yes I agree, there is nothing mediocre about the Middle Way. Really, everything becomes sacred and extraordinary in this context... without having to conform to a particular deluded ideal.
