    Dogen's Four Basic Teachings

    Hi all

I greatly enjoyed this teaching from Taigen Dan Leighton in which he lays out what he thinks are the four basic teachings from Dogen Zenji:

For anyone wanting a heads-up beforehand, the four are:

    1. Dropping off body and mind (shinjin datsuraku)
    2. No separation of practice and enlightenment
    3. Going beyond buddha
    4. Sustainable practice

Has anyone near Chicago been to his practice center?

          Thank you Kokuu.

I just have to take this opportunity to mention something about Chicago that may mean nothing to our European members ...

THE CUBS ARE IN THE WORLD SERIES!!

Chicago Cubs advance to World Series for 1st time in 71 years

The long-suffering Chicago Cubs advanced to the World Series for the first time in 71 years with a 5-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.

Zen abbot Soyen Shaku (see “Ancestors”) addressed the assembly in Chicago, having had his letter of acceptance written by his disciple, D. T. Suzuki. Also present was Dharmapala, […]
