Dear All,
Our Blue Mountain White Cloud Hermitage visits by old friends continue ...
I am pleased to announce that our old Treeleaf friend and Taigu's heir, TAIKYO DAVID MORGANS, now guiding the wonderfully acronymed Z.A.W. (Zen Association Wales), will be joining us for a very special Zazenkai and Talk this SUNDAY OCTOBER 23rd, LIVE. Please come sit with us ... which is said in Welch:
Gallwn ni eistedd gyda'n gilydd!!
Taikyo Morgans has been practicing meditation and Buddhism for 40 years. He has spent practice time in places of different Buddhist traditions, such as Chithurst Monastery in Sussex and Vajaloka (FWBO) in Mid- Wales, but found the way in Zen practice.
He dedicated himself to Zen Buddhism 20 years ago, first practicing on his own and then with various Sanghas around the UK. He has spent time in Zen monasteries such as Throssel Hole in Northern England, Kanshoji in France, Zen River in Holland and has been on many other retreats and sesshins throughout Europe. He took the lay precepts (Jukai) 4yrs ago and received Tokudo (priesthood ordination) from his teacher Taigu Turlur in August of 2014.
Taikyo has a PhD in philosophy and teaches at the University of Wales, Lampeter. He teaches courses on Buddhist philosophy and facilitates the Lampeter Sangha, a Zen group whose members include students from the University and the local community. The Sangha has a Zendo which is used by the group solely for Zen practice. The Zendo is an established Zen Centre within the Blue Mountain White Clouds Hermitage. Taikyo, with the Zen Association Wales, runs regular talks, visits and retreats throughout Wales each year and is working to make Zen Buddhist practice and teachings more accessible to the people of Wales and all sentient beings.

He is a senior lecturer in philosophy at the University of Wales, who describes his academic interests this way (in case anyone has a question) ...
His research is in the relationship between subject, self-identity and consciousness and the influence (or not) of such theories on social issues. His present research focuses on a comparison between Western and Eastern Philosophy. He is working on the similarities between the use philosophical language in Dogen and Wittgenstein. ... [He] has teaching interests in Modern European Philosophy, Cultural studies, Wittgenstein, and the interface between Analytic and Continental Philosophy, Buddhist Philosophy with a special emphasis on Zen.
The festivities will begin at at 2:00 pm in Wales/10pm in Japan (that is New York 9am, Los Angeles 6am, London 2pm and Paris 3pm, all Sunday October 23rd)]. Our sitting schedule will look like this ... perhaps 30 minutes of Zazen, a Talk by Taikyo for 25 minutes or so, and some Questions from our participants. I anticipate the the event will be about 90 minutes to a bit longer, depending on the Q&A.
The Zazenkai can be viewed 'one way' LIVE at that time at the following screen, and in recorded form at any time thereafter:
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE LIVE 'TWO-WAY' BY GOOGLE+ HANGOUT:
If you feel you are a person who would like to attend, are familiar with Google+/Hangouts, and have a reliable computer and good internet connection, please post in this thread that you would like to attend and can commit to attend at that time. (If you have any question on how to sign up for Google+, please PM SHUGEN or SHINGEN and we will do our best to get you up to speed by Saturday)
We have 8 seats in the Hangout. We will also accept a waiting list of folks in case there is need. I will announce Hangout assignments this weekend, and provide further instructions for getting in. If there is demand, I will try to host a second hangout simultaneously as well.
If you wish to sit live, but only One Way instead of Two Way, the Zazenkai will be livecast on Youtube for one way viewing at the above screen, and I will be accepting Questions for Taikyo via email during the Zazenkai, if you have. Remember, our way is "Not One Not Two Way!"
It would be great to fill our hangouts and have a big turnout. If you are interested and commit can come, please post in this thread. It will be worth your time.
Please make sure you state clearly "have Google+ and hope to sit in Hangout". Otherwise I will be confused about who is joining one way.
It is once again a pleasure to welcome an old friend and catch up.
