Ralph Waldo Emerson is my favorite thinker, and many times I come across statements in his writings that resonate deeply within me. Here's one I came across today, which I think fits in well here:

"You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late."

I never really especially preferred Emerson, but I will agree that some of his statements have some truth to it.
I am a "i have to read it to know if I like it" type guy with poetry. :wink:

I don't like Emerson's poetry, in fact; I don't like much poetry of the time. But his prose - his essays and journals - are chock-full of enlightenment.
