    Dharma podcasts?

Not to be obsessive, but I would like to find one or two good dharma podcasts to listen to from time to time. I'm not interested in anything that just presents the "latest big thing", but rather more serious podcasts - teachings (I know of Zencast, which is often interesting), or serious reflection. Any suggestions?

    Hi Kirk

always enjoyed Zencast & audiodharma too. Have you tried Bad Buddhist Radio - in you face delivery, but still worth a listen

    Kind regards

There are a variety on iTunes. Beyond those already mentioned, there's The InterDependence Project Podcast, Audio Dharma, Buddhist Geeks, Dharma Podcast, San Francisco Zen Center Public Lectures, Unfettered Mind, White Cloud Dharma Talks, and Ancient Dragon Zen Gates Dharma talks. I've listened to all of these in varying degrees. My first experience with the Dharma Podcasts was with Gil Fronsdal via Audio Dharma. It offered a good foundation before I found Treeleaf. When I listen to a podcast now, I think it's most often Ethan Nictern's InterDependence Project, where the talks fall under a broad umbrella of contemplative practice, rather than Zen.

I like all of the above as well, but would add Zen Is Stupid. It's good from a down-to-earth perspective on a variety of topics. Honestly the first time I heard this one I found it slightly annoying but soon came to like it and have since listened to all 50-some podcasts in the series.

Other than that I would say that my other regular listen is the Interdependence Project Podcast as well. If you haven't read his book One City, I recommend it too.

I too started with Zencast (Alex, enter Zencast in the seacrh field of iTunes and it will find it for ya) and Gil's Dhamma talks at AudioDharma.

Zen Mountain Monastery has its own Zen radio station 8) Check http://www.wzen.org/.

I sometimes listen to Norman Fischer's talks at http://www.everydayzen.org/index.php.

Ah, but I didn't say if I thought it cost something.
I just said I didn't have it, maybe I should have said "use" it. But meh, maybe I'll try it anyway.
I'll google it right now. :P
Thanks for the help, in any case, everyone.

                        Alex,

I didn't have iTunes until recently. 8) As far as I know you can have any podcasting client not just iTunes, for searching ans subrsribing to podcasts. I have a couple of others too (Doppler for example) but got tired of them, downloaded iTunes and am very happy with it.
It is very easy to use. Hope it works for you!

                        Namasté,

I checked out Bad Buddha Radio and I'm torn about a review. He's does weave in some good points about stripping away the mystical mumbo jumbo included in a lot of buddhist practice, but he's an ex stand-up comedian and it shows. The "whacky" voices got on my nerves.
Trying out audio dharma podcast this week!

                            Hi Xander

Gil Fronsdal at audiodharma has got a great line in dharma talks, well worth a listen, especially his introduction to meditation courses. The library that has been amassed over the years is huge.

                            Kind regards
