Insight Timer For Zazenathon!

Of course, this is not required--just fun to have!

Our Group on the Insight Timer app has been set up for the 10th Anniversary Zazenathon!

You can get Insight Timer at the iTunes store, or Android apps, or at Amazon (you can do it on your TV!) for $3.00-$5.00.

The good thing about joining is that you'll see whenever another Treeleafer is sitting at any given time, creating a nice sense of community.

It only cost $3 or $5!

It is easy--even I do it! (And the Bells are wonderful!)

The group in the app is called Treeleaf's 10th Anniversary Zazenathon and you can join by looking for it within the app.

If you do need any help, Kyonin will monitor this thread!

Insight timer is great, I was finally able to get it recently since I got a new phone, and I really like it. Not only can you sit with others and see who is sitting at the same time, it has some nice guided meditations to help go to sleep! I will join the Zazenathon group.

When you search for the group, you will see 2 Treeleaf groups, one for the 10th Anniversary Zazenathon, and another one for regular Treeleaf sittings. Join both!

I have the Insight Timer but have not used it for awhile. I just went into the app and found the 10th Anniversary. So how do I use that on my assigned sits? Do I just use the timer and it logs on my time in the Treeleaf group as well as the 10th anniversary.

No, nothing that technically spectacular. It just allows anyone to drop in (like Jundo, or me, or anyone who joins the group) and see who is meditating and sit with them. It is for fun and because it is in the spirit of an online zendo. But it is not necessary to use it at all! And unfortunately, it doesn't substitute for the old-fashioned spreadsheet and posting of requests for back-up sitters! Gassho, Grace.

Now to give you a laugh. I have often thought that in your avatar you are standing among gorillas...quick observation and being a wildlife biologist and with the folks I know (not so much gorillas but wildlife) it would not be totally unusual. So I assumed! But today I looked closer, on a bigger screen, and see I was "seeing things"...and I am suppose to be a wildlife guy. Back to the cushion for more clarity or maybe new reading glasses.

I'm so happy to see so many members joining the insight groups! I can't tell you how often I meditate with other members because we are on insight at the same time; it really is wonderful. There is one step that new members might need to take if you want to easily see when someone else in the group is meditating.

When you are in the group go to the Information Tab and scroll to the bottom.

There are 3 options, "Show Members on Everyone Tab", "Show Members on Friends Tab", and "Notify me when someone joins this group".

You will want to select "Yes" on either of the first two options. The app automatically opens to the friends tab, so I select that one. But you can use whichever you prefer.
