    Very important teaching!

    Hi.

What if we taught our kids and ourselves to do this every day?

Check out the Plum Village app for more insights, wisdom and guided meditations offered by Brother Phap Lai, Thich Nhat Hanh and the monastic sangha: https:/...

    Thank you for your practice.

    Thank you, Fugen.

It's a great real practice for kids, I think, or for close friends.

In my surroundings, some people don't even like handshakes, and it took me half my life to hug my best friend.
So it would be a world-changing practice in societies that are more distanced in manner.

I'll remember it when chance arises, and I'll hug people mentally during metta practice.
Often there are people I have never had the chance to tell how thankful I am, or how helpful they are.
Or people I see as difficult, but who are just the same as me in their suffering.

May a hug be with you.

    Gassho,
    Danny

I love hugging trees. How precarious and unsteady we seem next to their steadiness and stillness through the seasons of change.

      Deep bows

I prefer to hi five the low hanging branches. It's a nice connection without being too personal!
If I'm already enlightened why the hell is this so hard?

It wasn't until very recently that I've become comfortable with hugs or saying "I love you"s to friends. I still don't do either with my parents! Physical affection never happened when I grew up. I suppose that's very Japanese?
