    Invited to a Chan retreat...

    Dear Jundo and friends,

I joined Treleaf as there is currently no Zen presence in Indonesia (no Japanese or Western Zen at all), so I cannot physically attend a Zendo.

There is, however, a Chan group in Yogyakarta (a plane flight away - or between 8 and 12 hours in a train - from Jakarta); they have kindly invited me to join their annual retreat in March next year. I will take some leave, as I have some friends in Yogya (I used to live there in the 90's) and am keen to attend the retreat.

It won't be too regular, given the distance, but I feel that it will be valuable to engage with these 'distant-dharma-second-cousins-twice-removed' . They seem like a very nice community and I am likely to remain in contact with them, given that they are the closest thing to 'what we do' here in Indonesia.

It is some time away yet, but I will let you know how it all goes...

    Gassho,

    Bryson

Grab it. Get it. "Git 'er done!"

      Terrific lesson.

      Thank you

              Dear Bryson
I regularly attend a monthly Chan retreat day in the lineage of John Crooke and Shen Yen. It adds a different perspective and 'flavour'.
              Have a good retreat.
