I just about have a "practice space" ready for this weekend. Looking forward to practising with you all again this year.

Unfortunately I won't be able to fully participate live.

Timezone, wife's work, family and volunteering appointments, all conspiring against my chances to retreat
(kidding about the conspiracy, but to be honest, I am not glad with this situation)

I'll do what I can to sit live, or watch the ceremonies, perhaps during the night, as I am 12 hours behind Japan.
I'll also try to do some recorded parts, but can not be sure how much time will I have left.

Even though it's a long weekend in Argentina, if all my family is at home I won't be able to sit with ease.

So I'll have to wait for retreating.

May you all have a nice retreat and enjoy your practice.

      Gassho,
      Walter

          Hi Walter,

The Retreat is available in "real time" recording, and can be sat by folks at any time they can arrange. It need not be sat live.

Maybe there will be a time you can if you feel it is right.

Besides the chant book and Rohatsu retreat pointers, are there any materials for the Dharma talks that should be read in advance?

              Hi Jon,

Yes. The talks this time will all be based on portions of Ejo Zenji's KOMYOZO ZANMAI (Samadhi of the Treasury of Light). The portions we shall dance are here ...

WELCOME ... ... to our TREELEAF 'AT HOME' Two Day 'ALL ONLINE' ROHATSU (Buddha's Enlightenment Day) RETREAT, being held by LIVE NETCAST on Saturday/Sunday December 6th and 7th, 2014 (though starting Friday night December 5th in some time zones). Please 'sit-a-long' with the LIVE NETCAST at the times below ... to be visible

PS: Danny, I use the case of my saxophone as a low table, so any box or even a pile of books would do.
Do you have a large cloth napkin or large dish towel? That may work better than a pillow case.
Hi Nindo, I would be happy to do Day 1/Unit 1 and Day 2/Unit 1 with you. Due to family commitments my participation past the morning will be kind of random. Let me know if that works for you. 6am central works for me.

                    Thank you Jundo,

                    Wow. So powerful, so beautiful...

Forests, flowers, grasses, leaves; humans and animals; large or small, long or short, square or round: all display themselves simultaneously, free of discriminating thoughts or intention. This is luminosity unobstructed in impermanence.

                    ...

Being disciples of Buddha now yourselves, you should do zazen peacefully on his seat.

                        Thanks Jundo.

My concern is that not being alone it will be difficult to spend two days of retreat.
Perhaps I can make arrangements to have one day alone.
It depends in a great deal on the weather, we live in a small apartment and if my family stays because of the rain, it's difficult for me to concentrate in the retreat.

I will most probably be able to do it in parts, but I don't know if that serves the purpose.
I will do it to the best of my possibilities, I really want to take part anyhow.

It is hard to have two days off having a family.
But this must be a big opportunity to practice patience and tolerance with things as they are. And to stop seeing my responsibilities as hindrances.

                        Gassho,
                        Walter

                          Hi Walter,

It is best done two days together, but everyone has their own situation and abilities. So, two days apart ... one day ... bits and pieces ... each as one is able and needs.

... Just sit as one can.

                              Hello!
It looks like a will be sitting the rohatsu sesshin the weekend after the live retreat. But maybe I can pop in and sit live on some part. Is it possible and ok to just join in two-way one sitting?

Yes, you can do that, but try to sit live as much as you can. It's a great experience!
