    Kaikyoge

Please, Kyonin or others, would you write down the Verse for Opening the Sutras?

I don't know what I want to do with it, but it is so beautiful (the Treeleaf version), this contrast of "always encountered but rarely perceived" is stuck in my head since yesterday.

Makes a difference to sotozen.net and the Nishijima/Cross-Translation.

    Or am I mis-perceiving?

(I am attached to all this "perceive reality" stuff. I really must do something about it.
    Maybe sit. )

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Danny,

The exact wording is not what matters ...

    Sutra Opening Verse
    (Kaikyôge)
(To be chanted 3X before Dharma Talk)

The Dharma, incomparably profound and infinitely subtle,
Is always encountered, yet rarely perceived.
Now we see, hear, receive and maintain this,
May we all realize the Tathagatha's true meaning.

This is not pointing to words, I agree.
But pointing beyond words can be done with words that connect differently to listeners.
      These connect deeply to me.

      Thank you.

It is very lovely in Japanese too ...

MUJO JINJIN MIMYO HO HYAKU SEN MAN GO NAN SOGU GA KON KENMON TOKU JUJI GAN GE NYORAI SHINJITSU GI

(Usually recited 3x in our Tradition, not just once as here)

        カラオケの様に、読み上げ音声に応じて字幕が進みます四国お遍路はこれをスマホに入れて、納経します

Yay, there's a hiragana section next to the kanji! Very helpful to this one who can barely read Japanese.

Just a note that there was an extra syllable in the alphabet version of the Japanese I posted above that is not how I know the chant, nor how it is in the video. I have removed it. The correct version is ...
