To save all sentient beings, though beings are numberless.
To penetrate reality, though reality is boundless.
To transform all delusion, though delusions are immeasurable.
To attain the enlightened way, a way non-attainable.

Thank you, Will. Those quotes from Uchiyama Roshi are sure it!

Because we will never get what we want.

... unless we want what we got, I suppose.

Good quote. Is it from the book you guys are reading for the book club? Anyone know why it's so hard to find?

            RCulver,

I do believe the quote is from the book.

I guess the audience is a bit small, it is not new age or pop-buddhism.

It is a little hard to find, but most bookstores should be able to get it.

The easiest way to buy it would be to order direct from the publisher wisdom publications, only $13.

There are not many Dharma books that I would insist are must buys, but this one is on the top of that list.

It is also available here (this is a great service, by the way, for getting a good buy on a book). We are using the 2004 edition. Hit the button that says "compare prices" I think the equivalent service exists outside the U.S. too.

yar i had a bit of a time getting a copy of the aforementioned book, i picked up my copy off of ebay for a grand total of 9 bucks! i actually had little choice since the local MEGAHUGECOFFEEANDBOOKS book store couldnt order a copy and online possiblities required a credit card (I ditched that monstrosity when 15 years a go.. dont ever want another if at all possible)
