Inspired by Kyonin and Treeleaf, I met with a small group of friends / colleagues and Girish Deshpande, a practitioner of Vajrayana-Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism to discuss meditation basics here in Pune (India).
I found Girish through his articles in Speaking Tree, a weekly supplement featured in a local newspaper. I looked him up, found out that he lives in the same city as I did and sent him an invite.
Girish walked us through the 4 noble truths, a short introduction to buddhist thought, basic posture, and approach to thoughts in shamatha meditation. The group meditated together for about ten minutes to practice what we'd learned and dedicated the meetup to the benefit of all sentient beings.
Those who attended (in the picture below) enjoyed Girish's talk and are from a city-wide community of entrepreneurs.
