    A Beer With Jesus

I am a bit of a country music fan, and this is a recent song that's around. Ah, ya gotta love country. Whatever one's creed, it asks the same existential questions that folks wonder about.

Maybe we should have "If I could have a beer with Buddha" ... or maybe a cup of tea.

** (by the way, not really an appropriate song to play at AA meetings ... and they should stick with the tea).

Here are two very different versions of a beautiful classic..

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

This is the song we heard before from the Soggy bottom boys in the movie Oh Brother, Where art thou...but Elage Diouf really made it rock...

Having a beer with Jesus? Not that interested to be honest, but I really do hope I'll have a beer (or tea) with people from this Sangha in the future.
Having a beer with Buddha? You can have that any day, any time...

Ditto, Timo! I like some country music, but this song (and the Bartender song recently) drive me nuts
I'll have a beer/tea with anyone in the Sangha anytime

                  Hey Jundo,

I love that country singer's voice. Thanks for sharing it with us.

To quote Xander from 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer:

Willow Rosenberg: "I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. I'll see you on Monday."
                    [she leaves]
Xander: "That's okay. I don't wanna go. Just gonna go home, lie down, and listen to country music. The music of pain."

                    Thank you Jundo.

I'm afraid country music isn't my cup of tea; my Dad loves it, so I could never like the same music as my Dad!

Instead, I'll post a song from the new album by my favourite band, Yo La Tengo. To my mind the lyrics have a slight taste of zen:

"Sometimes the bad guys come out on top,
                      Sometimes the good guys lose,
We try not to lose our hearts, not to lose our minds.

Sometimes the bad days maintain their grip,
                      Sometimes the good days fade

                      ....(Not sure here!)....

But nothing ever stays the same, nothing's explained,
The higher we go, the longer we fly,
'Cause this is it for all we know,
So say goodnight to me & lose no more time,
                      No more time,
                      Resisting the flow"

Also, the video's quite apt Treeleaf!

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Love the old school country (e.g. Cash) and some of the Alt country (e.g, Jayhawks). Cash's version of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails a classic....

                            What have I become,
                            My sweetest friend,
                            Everyone I know,
                            Goes away in the end,

And you could have it all,
                            My empire of dirt,
                            I will let you down,
                            I will make you hurt,
                            Beautiful song and vid.
