            . . . I probably wouldn't even recognize him.

              He thinks, "Wow, that guy looks just like the Buddha!" Oops! He forgot where he is going.

                    ...just mean that you have been blind before, utterly blind, now it stands in front of you, don t get another kind of blindness. Whatever, but please don t be attached and look behind you as you part. You simply cannot part. And nobody needs to make a big deal out of it. So, whatever...

                      wasn't this a koan and the answer was 'kill him'
                      meaning don't make buddha or anything out of self and other.
                      what is meeting?

                        Of course every single answer you have given so far to this koan is right. Whatever. And you don t even need to recognize it, it-she-he cannot be recognized, just lived.

                          Yes Rich, and killing precisely means the self getting to meet the self within the self, concepts, ideas, expectations, the whole garbage and load dropped. So smiling, running, showing him the way do apply. There is not a single answer to this. It would be still carving an idea as to how to proceed.

                              That was my thought, too, Rich: What is there to do? Paraphrasing a Heinlein character, "Thou art Buddha!"

                              Or how about this: You merge into each other as you go your separate ways.

                                Now, can we please stop the analyzing and get on with filling in the blanks!
                                In a spring outside time, flowers bloom on a withered tree;
                                you ride a jade elephant backwards, chasing the winged dragon-deer;
                                now as you hide far beyond innumerable peaks--
                                the white moon, a cool breeze, the dawn of a fortunate day
