Just a note that I corrected the schedule just now to be Sunday-Monday (not Saturday-Sunday as last year). Otherwise, the times are the same.

Is it just me, or is anyone else having trouble with the recorded Rohatsu. I have tried a number of times to open the sessions of Day 1 and all I get is a black screen. I have Adobe Flash. I have not had any problem in the past opening recorded Zazenkai or talks by Jundo or Taigu, but this is just not opening for me.

I tried a few different videos and they all seem to work. I get a black screen for a moment, see Jundo for a moment, then get an ad for 30 seconds, and then the video starts.

I'd try updating flash anyway:

Are you, by any chance, seeing a Nokia ad on the side when this happens? It's a known issue which the Justin TV forum SAYS was fixed yesterday, but I was getting it today. You might just have to keep refreshing the page until you get another ad. :roll:

Speaking of technical difficulties . . . I've been trying since 6 am to do this retreat, but Justin TV and/or my ISP is giving me a lot of grief today. I finally gave up around 4 p.m. because I had to constantly get up to try to make the recordings buffer. Flash is updated, my browser is updated, my hard drive defragged, I'm suspecting server trouble. Anyway, I tried just sitting-with-what-is, but the momentum you get from an all-day retreat was just botched.

Gonna see what I can figure out and try again Friday. I really want to do this right.

My husband was not able to help out with Hunter since he had some work to complete. So, I was not able to participate in the retreat as I wanted today. I did speak the chants for washing hands, etc., practiced Samu while doing chores and being with Hunter and sat additional Zazen during Hunter's naptime. Everyone who sitting was in my thoughts throughout the day. Hopefully I will be able to sit the retreat next weekend.

Thanks Dosho and Jen,

I updated the Adobe Flash and I was then able to get beyond the "black screen"; but what is now happening is that I get 1 second of live action and 10 seconds of duh!; then 1 more second followed by 10 more seconds of duh!...that would maker the first recording of about 1 1/2 hours a rather long affair!!!

I tried it at several different portions of Day 1 recordings and did not fair much better at most places. The losted sustained recording was for for 18 seconds then..duh! doh! I did have a little better reception with day 2, but the first recording for Day 2 was fine for 23 minutes and then went into "bufferingland" ne'er to be heard from again.

I'll keep trying, as I was hoping to do the retreat on the 7th and 8th.

Today I was delighted to find that I could do Day 2 because--I think--of the low resolution of Taigu's videos. I didn't have a single problem!

Apparently the problem with lag times has been noted at JustinTV (months ago!) and . . . well, I don't know. They have a suggestion box under http://justintv.uservoice.com/forums/17 ... uggestions and the topic is "Quality setting for watching archive videos." I guess you can vote it up but it seems 630 people have been waiting for a fix for this since March.

If possible, could someone (Shawn?

) extract the sound from the videos, like how the podcast is done, for those of us with no cause or end to buffering? It would be so much better than nothing.

And to Taigu: great service and wonderful talks! Gassho!
