just beyond the Rock Garden 8)

    surrounded by bonzai :P

    Hello Greg,

The local Thai/Laotian temple has volleyball courts out back .

It's really cool to see the orange robes flying around!

      Hi.

I watch some, but really not much, and i do think it is an very interesting sport once you learn some of it, and have played some yourself...
And of course there's the cheering for the local boy to...

I played some back 10 or 11 years ago and loved it. it was great exercise and fun (and fast which i dig)! to watch not my thing so much but that goes with many things. I am a hands on type.
        Definitely some intensity there

Funny . . . when I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it was a reference to the show Nip/Tuck. A main character's rich bored housewife actually took up some new-agey "Zennis" lessons with a hot instructor.

              But seriously,

That moment that you lob that ball in the air. Just as one raises the racket. All in one movement. One motion.

I loved/love tennis. I can stay watching three hours of it.
I know it sounds PC, but...one of the few sports where women have been able to get equal attention as their male counterparts.

So long as one plays diligently, running here and there to score the points that one can, with the goal (amid 'win some and lose some') to win what can be won ...

... all the while as there is nothing to win or lose, no place not the court, no "out" possible, no game that is not already One and Won ...

... experiencing from time to time amid the serves and returns, that court, racket, ball, net, sun, sky, you and your opponent are truly One and Won ... just Tennis Tennising Tennis ...

... THEN this "Open" is simply Shikantaza ... Game, Set, Match. 8)

I like a couple of long distance sports, running and cycling. Like anything else, moments on the cushion are there off the cushion too.
If I run for a long time, and there are no obvious dangers like traffic, I run a sort of kinhin. Breath, step, step breath and with what is. Other senses needed for running like, hearing and alert eyesight, light steps all work but become more like impulses, like your heart beating and lungs working while you eat or watch TV.
