You are not it, but in truth it is you.
Like a newborn child, it is fully endowed with five aspects:
No going, no coming, no arising, no abiding

Thank you for this explainantion. Is the gate the same as the raft in that it should be tossed aside once it has served its purpose?

Well, yes in a way. You see, you get rid of the raft not because you want to or decide to but simply because you fully understand that you are the raft, you are the gate. It is called "making nor one neither two".
