              Dear Shinkai,

Your stuff is really inspiring. Very humbling.

Allow me to share a few words from last retreat:

              my mantra, just being
              my deity, the ordinary
              my practice, wonder

                  Re: Gathas

I have been reading Dhammapada and came across the following, which made me think of this thread:

"Even though a Gatha be a thousand of words, but made up of senseless words, one word of a Gatha is better, which if a man hears, he becomes quiet."

                  And

"Though a man recite a hundred gathas made up of senseless words, one word of the law is better, which if a man hears, he becomes quiet."

So this made me wonder ... what if you hear a hundred gathas of a thousand words and become quiet...as I've done here.

                  Thank you for this thread...

                    Re: Gathas

wow, these are great. I've never tried to write gatha before.

This one came the mind as I read:

                    Cheeks burning from hasty words
                    I vow with all beings
to remember that those who challenge us most
                    are our greatest teachers

Great start and very apt, especially for those of us with kids.
